Pausing particle emitting
« on: June 10, 2006, 06:38:13 PM »

Hi,

I am currently testing the WME build-in particle system and I have some problems. Is there a way to stop the generation of particles without pausing or killing the particles that are alive? For example a short steam blow from a pipe that emits for a second. If I use Emitter.Stop() it stops emitting but also kills the smoke that's on screen.

Thanks
Mac

you can emit more particles than the maximal allowed particles  then you get the Emitter pausing till there are again fewer then the maximal allowed.....
thats not perfect but it works !!!

but here is another one ....

is it possible to start a sound from within the particle system .... example  steam: everytime the emitter starts some steamsound is played ??

Mac: check this thread: http://forum.dead-code.org/index.php?topic=1529.msg10864#msg10864
There's a new MaxBatches attribute in the latest WME build which should allow you to do that.

Stucki: Not possible at the moment. I'll add the ability to trigger script events when a new particle batch is being generated.
