No you can't export an animated model, but you can model and texturize (Uv) your model in maya and then animate it in
in MilkShape or CharacterFX or... or... I don't remember but there's another tool too!

Maybe in future WME could import some format like .X and so almost all problems for 3dartists will be resolved.

General Discussion / Animation in Blender
« on: August 28, 2005, 12:49:58 AM »
The Blender team is working on a new animation system for Blender,
it has IK (obviusly) and a new vertex weighting system.

this are some links:
http://www.blender3d.org/forum/
http://www.blender3d.org/cms/Changes_since_2_37.598.0.html
http://www.blender3d.org/cms/Dependency_Graph.633.0.html
http://www.blender3d.org/cms/Armature_Envelopes.647.0.html
http://www.blender3d.org/cms/How_Armatures_work.634.0.html
http://www.blender3d.org/cms/Armature_draw_modes.629.0.html

So, animating in Blender (and Modeling and rendering too!) and export to WME would be very usefull.....
 ;)

Hello!
I had the same trouble with the hidden geometry.
try to increase the size of your meshes in the 3ds file.
I think your character doesn't display for a wrong scene size.

try to modify the 3d demo of WME with your graphics,
so you can see where the problem is.

hope this helps you.

Hello,
I suggest you to model and render your scene in 3dsMax,
and then export your character without animation in obj format or equivalent
to CharacterFX or FragMotion.

Since the Milkshape file format doesn't support weighted bone assignment you should
model your character thinking about it.
Say: the mesh, around the knees, should have few poly's to have a fluid bending during walk cycle. (sorry for my poor English...)
I've done some experiment modelling in Blender and animating in CharacterFX,
and the resullt are very good.

hope this suggestion will be useful for you.

you can see everything?

HEllo,
the right method was: obj.getMatrix('old_worldspace'), or so the script works....
....but for me WME doesn't display the mesh correctly.

Nihil, which Blender release you use? I use the 2.37.
WME loads and display the mesh right?

thanks

HEllo,
thanks for reply,

are you sure that the right method is objGetMatrix() and not obj.GetMatrix('old_worldspace') ?

Hello,

Blender doesn't support target cameras, I've constrained the camera to look
to the cube.
It isn't proper a camera with target, I think ???

Hello Jerrot,
this is the link to the blender file: www.overcast.it/sample/3dsWalkMap.zip
there's a cube in the scene that I use to target the camera, because I render in Maya and then I create the
collision mesh in blender.
I use the 2.37a version.

thanks
