Objects can be rotated, but how about a skew-function? This would make dynamics shadows, for example, more realistic...

That's a good idea. It should be relatively easy to add in the 3D mode, but thre will be a problem with videocards with a limited texture size :(

This would require real-time antialiasing and interpolating (not the one from the video card - like photoshop's for example) to look good. But I'll wait to see mnemonic's suggestion.

And for the shadows the 3d shadows that are in the todo list for a long time now might be a more complex but better solution  ;)
