Technical forum / Re: Character Stats?

Many thanks. Is there really no source project around that does it? I would be better set with some clear example ( I'm far from a  skilled programmer).

Technical forum / Character Stats?
« on: September 01, 2008, 03:58:33 AM »
Okay, so I'm toying with the idea of working on an adventure game/rpg hybrid on the wintermute engine. I want the player, at the start of the game to create his character. He will do that by choosing attributes and skills ( strenght/intelligence etc, Diplomacy, thievery, yada, yada). Those attributes and skills will play a part in the game altering the choices of the player and the sucess of his actions.

So, I understand I must set these attributes as variables. Sounds simple enough. But I'm confused as to where should I start regarding the character creation screen and allowing the player to set these attributes through a menu. Any tips? perhaps something similar was already done on wintermute?

Technical forum / Callahan's style scenes/camera
« on: August 28, 2008, 07:59:07 PM »
I want my game to have Callahan's Crosstime Saloon style camera/scenes. The game had a faux first person perspective and kind of 1x4 (heightXwidth) 2d images for scenes that allowed the player's perspective to rotate 360 degrees left or right.

Is this possible on wintermute? Directions?

Cheers

Help wanted and offered / Artist looking...
« on: August 27, 2008, 08:32:15 PM »
For associate(s) to develop games on the wintermute engine. My main offer is basiccaly to work on the project of a programmer that needs art, and in exchange he would contribute code and logistical help regarding programming on my project. I'm also interested in just contributing part-time to a project that interests me.

Here are samples of my work :

Sorry about the production quality on some of the screenshots, they were test renders in the C4 game engine for the last project I was working in. I think they show where I'm at though.

Most of my previous experience is in real time 3d and I will need a bit of an overlap before getting used to the wintermute engine and the "2.5d" style. I'm specially fond of working with character art, and elements such as weapons, props and etc. I can also handle architecture/scenery, but I don't have much experience with it. I'm not proficient in animations, but I can rigg characters to positioned skelletons. My software of choice is 3ds max, photoshop, zbrush and wings 3d.

I'm also a musician/composer and would be very interested in recording soundtracks for games. Here is a .rar file with a few samples of my music :

Hope I have a future here ;)

cheers
