Stick to 2d pathfinding. You'll get in trouble normally using 3D Soft to try to make 3D Geometry, because I really doubt your handdrawn backkgrounds are 100% correcty in point of perspectives and stuff
So 2D Pathfinding in sceneedit with 3D Actors is working well for 2D Backgrounds.
I agree with that, but I still need the geometry file. My question is more on how to create that file and keep it "correct".

y best solution. anyway need only the walks (terrain where run the actor3d ) and wall o bloks for the shadows(if want that the shadow follow for example the wall of a house or of a rock ).
Indeed very simple geometry is required, you just need to keep the perspective correct.
I thought it would be a common thing, but I guess teams who have a hand drawer artist will prefer hand drawn animations too. But hand drawn animation is time expensive and needs a lot of effort to get right, while 3D animation takes less time and you can find a lot of free material from the internet.
