« on: October 25, 2013, 08:14:16 PM »
CYAN the makers of Mist and Riven are on Kickstarter. They have a new game called Obduction that they are promoting. Anyone who wants to support CYAN’s new game (I singed up for the $25.00 level.) can follow the link below:

General Discussion / The Future of Adventure Game Making?
« on: July 16, 2013, 12:32:40 AM »
What do you see as being WME’s future?

Where are the adventure games makers heading, and what types of game engines are going to be used to make them? Is it multiple platform game engines? Can you even make a full featured Syberia or The Longest Journey adventure game on a tablet that would hold the player's interest?

I see Double Fine's new game Broken Age is going the multiple port route. CYAN Worlds ported Myst and Riven to iPad. I don't know how Dream Fall 2 is going to be handled.
I am not convinced that such small tablet screens will work with an adventure game. (Will hold the player's interest.)
It seems to me that a full sized monitor is needed to fully enjoy an adventure game.

Any thoughts on the subject?

General Discussion / Character Movement Question
« on: July 05, 2013, 08:39:47 PM »
I was comparing the games Syberia and The Art of Murder. I noticed something strange about the movement of characters in each game.

I was playing Syberia and the main character Kate can be smoothly moved in small increments to face in any direction. But, the main character in The Art of Murder (an WME game) seems to jump into one of eight pre-rendered positions instead of a smooth turning motion.

Can someone explain why this is so?
Is it just how WME game engine works?
Is there a fix for make full smooth character moves?

Thanks

General Discussion / 3D Characters - Making and Importing
« on: October 08, 2012, 03:45:11 AM »
I became interested in the Wintermute engine after reading that a game I had played was made with WME (The Lost Crown). After going over all the games made in Wintermute I discovered that a game I own called, The Art of Murder, was also made with Wintermute.

I did a search on 3D characters on the WME forum and became quite confused by all the different answers on
