Technical forum / Re: Strange shadows on 3D-Actor

Thanks for the help!
It was really a rigging problem.
In 3DsMax it showed up fine but in the engine one of the vertices behaved very strange.
It was connected to a bone, I tried around with different weights, but it always ended up on
the floor in Wintermute... So eventually I edited the mesh and deleted the vertex.

And now everything looks perfect  :)

Yes I just saw that.... Feel a little dump now :-(

Very comfortable way of doing the turning animation.
The Wintermute-Engine is really well thought out.

I played around with the position of the light, but the strange shadow lines in the middle of my actors legs stayed...
I tried putting the light inside the actor, for comparing the effect, and that looks completly different than my bug.

I also tried giving my actor a lowpoly-model for shadowing, but the shadow-lines stayed there.

Could it be a problem with my 3dmax-file?
But it seems fine...

I have some strange Shadows between the legs of my 3D-Actor.

Anyone an idea what could cause that?

Technical forum / TurnTo Animation, clockwise / counterclockwise?

Hello!

I like to have a TurnTo-Animation for my 3D-Actor.

One question is, how do I know when my actor is going to turn clockwise or counterclockwise?
I need this info, so the actor can begin his TurnTo-Animation with the left or right foot and turn his head/upperbody first in that direction.

Another question is where I can affect the TurnTo method...
My idea was implenting it in the actor.script with a WalkTo-Method and
WalkToObject-Method, which first turns the character in a direction with animation
and after finishing this animated TurnTo, invokes the real GoTo.
