Problem with Alpha
« on: October 22, 2008, 02:49:46 AM »

Hi!
    When I export 3DS Max files to .X file, alpha is not applied to my object. What might be the problem? How to resolve this? Thanks in advance.

Yes. It's with alpha Channel only.

what do you mean by that? The png file should be RGBA (no separate alpha texture is supported).

Initially it was RGBA only. I changed to separate Alpha Channel. In both ways it's not working. What to do?

RGBA works. I use it quite often. Double check that the diffuse texture is being exported in the model and that the path to the texture file is correct. .X is textual file (unless you chosen binary export) and is easily readable.

I checked that file. There is my texture filename present. I've included the contents of the file:

Material PDX02_-_Default {
 1.000000;1.000000;1.000000;1.000000;;
 3.200000;
 0.000000;0.000000;0.000000;;
 0.000000;0.000000;0.000000;;

 TextureFilename {
  "treetest.png";
 }
}

can you share the png file? I'd like to check if it has alpha channel present. Sometimes you get watered down png file withouth the alpha channel. :)
