We are looking for a flash programmer to join our team for the second episode of The Exchange Student.

Payment: 1000 Euros
Estimated Development Time: 1 month
Requirements: We are going to use the same engine from episode 1 so you won't have to create a new engine for the game. However you will have to improve a couple of small things, like ability for scrolling and ability to use items with each other in the inventory. You should have good knowledge of Flash 8. We use a freeware program that takes care of lip-synching, you will have to use this program for the purposes of the game (unless you would like to suggest another freeware lip-synching program).
Work needed: The script of the second episode (excel sheet describing the actions that the player can make in the game and what outcome they have) is approximately 1200 lines long. The game contains voice-overs and subtitles and it is mouse driven. You will also need to use the copy-protection system we used for episode 1 on the second episode as well.
Not necessary but it would help if: You have worked on other point and click games before and if you have used Zinc before.

Those interested please contact me: dimitris *at* theexchangestudent *dot* com . If you have examples of your work online feel free to provide some links to them in your email.

Software and games / The Exchange Student trailer now online
« on: August 15, 2006, 04:13:13 PM »

We have just released a trailer for the first episode of The Exchange Student.

You can download the trailer HERE.

Most of the dialogues featured in the trailer are not in the game (in order to avoid spoilers). The Exchange Student, featuring backgrounds from ex-Lucasarts artist Bill Eaken (Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, The Dig, Curse of Monkey Island) and animations by Dave Rigley (24 and a half webcomic), is an interactive sitcom. It is a point and click adventure game that will be sold in the form of episodes. The story follows Emilio Carboni, a 22 y.o. Italian student who has never had a girlfriend in his entire life. His friend Vicenzo just came back from an exchange program in Sweden. Vicenzo was really satisfied with the program since he met a lot of very attractive ladies during his stay in Sweden. Emilio decides to follow his friend's path. He travels to Sweden to spend a semester there, studying in a city of Sweden called Västerås. Fate however is not that kind with him.

Here is some additional reading for The Exchange Student:

English: Preview at Just Adventure, Preview at Bytten, Preview at Flash Valley
French: Preview at Factor News
German: Preview at Adventure Europe Germany
Portuguese: Preview at PT Gamers
Greek: Preview at Adventure Europe Greece, Preview at Adventure Advocate

The trailer is free to share and distribute of course. The first episode of The Exchange Student is going to be released this Friday on the 18th of August for PCs, and in September for Macs and Pocket PCs. We would be glad to hear your feedback based on the trailer and the previews you've seen so far

Game announcements / Free Hosting for your games
« on: November 17, 2005, 03:12:48 AM »
Hello,

We would like to offer free hosting for independent developers of adventure games over @ Adventure Europe, however there are some requirements:

1) Your game must have high quality graphics. By that we do not mean that your game must look like commercial adventures do nowadays, but it can't look like someone made it in paint. To get an idea of what kind of titles would qualify for free hosting are the ones that are already in our Free Adventures section.
2) Your game must be at least of middle length, we won't provide hosting for games that can be finished in 5 minutes.
3) Your game cannot use graphics ripped from other games, the graphics should be original work.
4) Your games should not feature text with too many spelling and grammar mistakes.

There is no catch, you won't have to enter our link anywhere in your game. Those interested contact d.manos@adventure-eu.com
