360 DEGREE SCENES
« on: July 29, 2005, 11:43:04 AM »

Hi I was wondering if it is at all possible for the engine to show scenes that are made up of a multitude of backgrounds that depict a room in 360 degrees.

I am sure you all have seen this on web sites for holidays etc. The idea is that when you move the mouse to the left or right another background is preloaded and as you get to the edge of the screen it scrolls onto the new background.

When completely on the new background the old background is erased and so on until you do a full circle.

Panoramic scene stitching I think they call it.

If this could be done then the player could get a 360 degree representation to the room/scene and extra items could be placed and the feeling of the player being in the centre of a room rather than a specific camera angle would be achieved. Think of the ambience that could be achieved still using 2D imagery.

I maybe asking too much but I think it is worth a thought or two.

Many thanks

Dear SBOVIS, please just try out the search function of this forum and enter "360" as keyword. There are at least 3 other threads within the last two months which dealed with that topic.

Best wishes, Jerrot.
