Title: Wintermute Engine Wiki
Post by: Mnemonic on August 22, 2005, 09:45:56 PM
Hello, we have experimentally launched a WME Wiki page. If you don't know what Wiki is, it's a dynamic website, where everyone can add new content and extend existing pages. Wikis use simple formatting rules for adding formatted text easily using a consistent design. The most popular example of Wiki is Wikipedia (http://www.wikipedia.org/).

What's the purpose of WME Wiki?

I'm sure we can find many other uses for this Wiki and I'm curious to see if the community takes advantage of it. If you have any comments or suggestions, feel free to post them in this thread.

Oh, and the most important thing, the link: http://wiki.dead-code.org/

This is great! :D

(BTW, I use wiki for my project as well.)

A new project or did you join Curves of Danger again?

(sorry for being off topic, but I'm just too curious ;;-) )

My own project, we shall see if I ever finish it... At least I'm starting from the right place this time, story and characters. I still have access to the Curves web page so I occasionally comment on new test demo releases and such.

Is login for the Wiki different than it is here?  I tried to log in but might have forgotten my password or something.  I'm going to do a Blender article with what I've learned so far.

I disabled registrations to the old wiki, because it got abused by spambots. Please use the new wiki (under construction): http://res.dead-code.org

The plan is to move everything to the new one. This wiki uses the same login as this forum.

Is there a place to upload images and text files?  I don't think using something like imageshack would be a good idea.

Since my web space is somewhat limited, I can't allow anyone to upload files to the server. If your files aren't too large, I can upload them for you or I can grant you special permissions for the Wiki.

OK.  There'll just be some jpg's.  I should be able to put the text stuff on the WIKI.  I'll get it together and then upload it to a site.  I'd use my FileFront site, that's pretty safe, but they're weird about images, they put them in this Flash thing so you can't really link to one.  Someone might want to try it this way.  It's a little hairy with the Blender exporter.  It borders on voodoo getting something to work right.

The article is in.  Hope it will help some Blender users at least get started if they don't want to use another program for the directx export.  It might look like a little work, but because I usually work on one animation at a time and add it to the model, it really isn't bad at all for me anyway.

Cool, thanks a lot. For others, the link to the article is: Exporting models from Blender into WME (http://res.dead-code.org/doku.php/kbase:exporting_models_from_blender_into_wme).

On that new wiki page, there are two CS language links in upper right corner, but the first of them is for English, can users fix it or only you can?

I suppose the first language button inherits the language setting of your web browser, I'm not sure.

Seems you guessed right.
