Title: Export of 3d animeted objects from MAX to MS3D -effectively

There is no need of MS3D exporter or skining modifier tools and even Milkshape! All you need is .X file exporter:
http://www.andytather.co.uk/Panda/directxmax_downloads.aspx

and some editor, that is able to work with .X and .MS3D files...tested on fragMOTION:
http://www.fragmosoft.com.

Setting of the .X exporter could be the only one complication. But don't worry... First Reality labs. solved it. Here is the right setting:

3DS Max Objects: all checked except Flip normals,  Optimized mesh set to "Optimized"
Animation: check Matrix, 3DS Max ticks and frame rate set to 24.
Texture & .fx files: by your consideration, I'm using basic settings.
X File Settings: depend on editor features, but I used basic settings.

Hope this will help somebody. When you find better way or get to some troubles, post it.

Bye!

Hm, do you animate characters with fragMOTION or with 3ds max and fragMOTION is just for getting 3ds to ms3d?

animate and model in 3ds max -> in 3ds max export to .X file -> in fragMotion import .X file -> in fragMotion export animated model to ms3d

What about morph targets from max, will they survive this procedure? I'm looking for a comfortable way to do facial expressions.

Unfortunately it's not possible. The .X exporter doesn't support morphing and I think ms3d couldn't handle it neither. I'm looking for a good way to animate facial expressions myself. It might help that we no longer need to use rigid mode, but also physique.
