Technical forum / Re: 360 backgrounds?
« on: September 08, 2009, 09:32:15 AM »
Hi there,

you could try Adventuremaker (adventuremaker.com). There's a cubic panorama plugin, but afaik, you have to buy the commercial version in order to use plugins. But otoh it's quite simple to use. But to be true, I'd drop the 360 degree idea and use WM.

The Scratches developers made their engine public, too. But it comes without such a nice editor.

Best of luck
Peter

If you like, I could offer a mirror for these tutorials.

The screenies are really beautiful, even for adult viewers. Very, very nice work!

Hi Muties,

I've found an interisting alternative to Photopshop and the Gimp, you'd never guess, what it's called. Gimpshop. No, I'm not kidding. Someone tried to change the quite "unusual" GUI of the Gimp into a Photoshop alike one. Well it does'nt fix the terrible CMYK mode of the Gimp, so it's still not the first choice, when it comes to create printed media, but it's really worth the look, if you're into web- game etc-design.  ::thumbup

Have a look at http://gimpshopdotnet.blogspot.com/ and have fun.

In comparison to the quite unstable Pixel32, the chaotic Gimp gui and the very expensive Photoshop, Gimpshop really makes some points. (No I'm not involved in the creation of this tool in any way).

Maybe our beloved moderator could put this onto the list on the first site of this thread....

Stay creative
IT  ;)

General Discussion / Great tutorial on low poly character modeling!
« on: December 06, 2006, 08:01:46 AM »
Hi there,

I found a really helpful tutorial on the development of 3d characters with a low polygon count. While I was searching the web, I found so many crappy tuts, with utterly ugly examples, that I was really happy to find this one at last. I'm doing 3d modeling for years, but never needed character design, nor low poly creations at all. Most sites I found were offering books and CDs, that's ok of course, but I wanted to make the first step somewhat smaller. This tutorial can be used with any 3d package, it makes use of point editing, polygon extrusion and uv mapping (ok some other functions were used too). You don't need: A 3d paint program, a high quality renderer, nurbs etc. If I find something similar for rigging, I'll post it later.

Well, on with show, here's the link: http://www.3dtotal.com/team/Tutorials/benmathis/benmathis_1.asp  ::rock

Good luck and bye

Well, maybe both of you should refer to the average gameplay time. I can't imagine that less than 5 hours is what most players needed to complete Niburu...

MMh,

no bells or whistles from my Kaspersky, so I'd guess, this was a misinterpretation of AVG.

Nice day

Community bulletin board / Poll: What 3D software are you using?
« on: November 25, 2006, 11:52:51 PM »
Hi there,

I thought it could be interisting to know, which programs are used to generate the 3d scene files for WME. Maybe, if we get one hot item, an additional 3d importer would be possible. Just a thought, Hey and its even nice to know, what your companions use...  ::beer

Won't implement / Re: 360 degree panoramic games
« on: November 24, 2006, 10:02:32 AM »
Hi there,

I think you forgot to post the link, you can get Scream (Scratches engine) here:

http://www.nucleosys.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=936

Don't get me wrong, I like 2.5D more than this 1st person stuff, but maybe it is the right choise for you. Scream uses Lua (script language), which is pretty easy to learn. I have no idea, how the engines behave on larger projects, but the developers confirm, that Scratches was completely done with it.

Good luck.

Feature requests, suggestions / Re: 3d scrolling
« on: November 21, 2006, 09:13:07 PM »
Hi there,

I'm reading this forum for a while, because I have a vague plan for an adventure game, but not the time to make one, at the momemt. Well, whn I was looking for the best engine, I found WME, after a short trip with Adventuremaker, and I think it's a great engine, maybe the first choice for 2D adventures right now. Well, for a pseudo 3d adventure I'd try the Scream engine (Scratches), whis is also free for download.

I don't think that this community is as half as bad as mentioned above. I'd rather guess, that most questions asked in here were so specific, that only a very small amount of users could give a proper solution.

Just my 2c

Greetings
