General Discussion / Great tutorial on low poly character modeling!
« on: December 06, 2006, 08:01:46 AM »
Hi there,
I found a really helpful tutorial on the development of 3d characters with a low polygon count. While I was searching the web, I found so many crappy tuts, with utterly ugly examples, that I was really happy to find this one at last. I'm doing 3d modeling for years, but never needed character design, nor low poly creations at all. Most sites I found were offering books and CDs, that's ok of course, but I wanted to make the first step somewhat smaller. This tutorial can be used with any 3d package, it makes use of point editing, polygon extrusion and uv mapping (ok some other functions were used too). You don't need: A 3d paint program, a high quality renderer, nurbs etc. If I find something similar for rigging, I'll post it later.
Well, on with show, here's the link: http://www.3dtotal.com/team/Tutorials/benmathis/benmathis_1.asp
Good luck and bye
