[Released] The Shine of a Star
« on: February 13, 2011, 03:03:49 PM »

Hello!

This is a game made for a school project by me (Robin Hjelte) and Jesper Olofsson. First project made in Wintermute, handpainted graphics and inspired of Machinarium, and Samorost. This is an ongoing project and I could post updates here if wanted, just wanted to share the creation.

Find info and video here: http://www.krumbukt.com/?page_id=261

UPDATE:

We have come so far now that we consider the game as done, and has released it at The Adventure Shop. We are very eager to see what people think about the game, and never hesitate to leave a comment here in the thread or by emailing me (you can find my email address in the bottom of every page on www.krumbukt.com). If there is any question about anything, never hesitate to ask either, and I will try my best to answer.

State: Released at The Adventure Shop, available at http://adventureshop.gamesplanet.com/produit.html?product_id=3023.
Cost: 3.99 (dollars or pounds or euro depending on location).

Awesome, I like the style a lot.

(the screenshot actually reminded me of Limbo, must be all the trees:) )

Thanks a lot, we actually looked at Limbo beforehand when looking for inspiration for the graphics. We also looked at John Bauer's work and some artwork for Trudvang (a Swedish pen-n-paper RPG). I can mention also that the project only was for one and a half week, so a lot (main characters animation) is only placeholder so far.

I can announce that The Shine of a Star has been selected as one of four games to win Games Concept Challange at "Kärlek, ettor och nollor" (Translated from Swedish: "Love, ones and zeros") a newly founded media festival (first time this year).

This means that we won a sum of 50 000 Swedish krona (~7 850 US dollars) and office place for continued development of the game. So far we have worked for a few weeks, and things are looking good. We are ahead of our schedule and the only thing taking time is graphics, which of course should be allowed to take time.

Our decision has been to stay with the Wintermute engine in our continued development.

And by the way, I am the same person as Taalar. Will however use this nick from now on here.

Cheers!

To read more about this project (I don't have the time or the energy to cross post news every time) please check out our studios facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Forgotten-Key/183851225002298 and my blog at www.krumbukt.com.

Things are going forward and we are implementing content in a steady pace.
