Resolution problem
« on: June 11, 2013, 10:21:59 PM »

Hi guys,
I'm Gabriele, the game designer of Face Noir (www.facenoir.com), a noir adventure game that this summer will be released by Phoenix Online Studio (The guys of Moebius and Erica Reed).
We need an help for a "little" problem, our game is developed with a 1024x768 resolution, in some monitor there is the possibility to strecht it in 16:9 format but in other monitors not. Is there a solution for this problem? Is it possible have the 16:9 force in all monitors?

Thanks guys!
Gabriele

As far as WME is concerned, you can either use the original resolution (in that case how different aspect ratio is handled is dependent on monitor and/or video card settings) or the user can check the "maintain aspect ratio" check-box and WME will add black bars if the monitor's aspect ratio is different from game resolution's aspect ratio.

The option "maintain aspect ratio" works only in some monitors, on other monitors WME shows the black bars also if this option is unchecked. Maybe some monitors ignore this option.

It's not monitor related. It's the gpu drivers. Most well known gpu manufacturers have driver settings to deal with those things and automatically do not allow the stretching of images (as they should).

And there is the possibility to "force" it?

I don't think you can override driver settings.
