Hi wintermuties,
yes, today it's two years since the first public version of WME has been released.
I dare to say the last year was successful for WME. First finished games started to appear; historically the first complete WME game ever to be released was Dreamweb's
Sofia's Debt.
We have seen many demos and trailers, including the ambitious demo of a project which helped WME to mature -
Project Joe.
There are also many more cool games in development. One of the great things about being the engine developer is being able to see previews of some yet-unannounced games, and believe me there's a lot to look forward to

Speaking about technicalities, there were fewer engine updates than in the first year, because most of the child diseases have already been removed. On the other hand, the updates have been bigger and usually brought a large set of new functions. One of the last ones brought the long awaited (experimental) support for real-time 3D characters.
The WME community continues to grow. This forum is, hopefully, still a useful source of information and advice for both newbies and advanced users, while our
IRC channel is still a useless source of disinformation and confusion for everyone

What is the future of WME? Well, no revolution is planned. I want to keep improving the engine and provide support. There are two long term tasks I'd like to work on, namely the new toolset, to help eliminating needless work and tedious tasks and a brand new script compiler, to get rid of some annoying limitations.
I want to sincerely thank to all of you WME users for using this software to create such beautiful pieces of arts. I said that before and I'll say it again: without you there would be no WME. Thank you for using it, thank you for helping the other members of the community, and thank you for helping WME to get recognized by the outside world.
For the third year, cheers!
