Custom color as transparent for items

Can I set white color (255, 255, 255) instead purple (255, 0, 255) for transparency of items sprite? The .font files has TRANSPARENT attribute. What about .items?

You don't define transparency for items directly, you define transparency for the sprites used as a graphical representation of the items.
