Title: Monthly WME competition?
Post by: deadworm222 on August 09, 2004, 08:54:43 AM
In the AGS (Adventure Game Authoring System) forums they have the Monthly AGS Competition. Its point is to experiment, get some games finished in a playful competition and have fun. The whole game is a one-man thing, and the character art, for example, isn't that important - the main thing is focusing on puzzles and good time. The rules often define some of the puzzles or the general theme of the game.

I might be interested in trying a this with WME. But there's no point in it if I'm the only one attending! So... Interested?  ::thumbdown ::thumbup

It's a good idea but I don't know how many people can take part in it. I, for example, can't be a part of it until December.

Who can ? I really appreciate the idea, but as always... most people here don't even find the time for their own projects. I surely would take part of it once a year. ;)

Ok, how about a three-months competition or something? :)

Better time, but... gives people with talent (or time, heh :) !) too much time to make a perfect game. Hmmm... again, we need more users with more time. ;)

How about instead of doing complete small games... something like fragment contests (e.g. most creative GUI, best slider ;-), best shadow effect, etc...)??

That's also an interesting idea... although games sound like more fun ;)

Well, it could be different every month or two. For example we can have a 2-month-mini-adventure, next a 2 weeks shadoweffect, then 1 month-minesweeper-cloe  ::), etc....

WME democompo, whehey! O0

I'd still prefer the game idea. The game could be very extra short and have only one major puzzle, for example. And we could have, perhaps, SIX months to complete the game.

In the AGS community it is a lot easier, because there's so much people someone always attends.

Same here... i'm interested, but so much to do, and no time available...  :(

So instead for a small game, i would go for a competition about specific elements as suggested.
