Done / Distributing single packages?
« on: September 13, 2007, 09:57:42 PM »
Hey folks. Maybe I missed something but I couldn't find anything about it. Is there any possibility to distribute only single packages without compiling the whole game? May sound strange but image the following: You make some testing and run into a bug. Nothing special. You make a correction and than: You have to wait until the full game has been compiled. That costs a lot of time. Wouldn't it be nice if you have to wait only for the package where the changes have been made (in our case it costs around 10 minutes to compile the whole game)

Not a bug / Re: Sound cracking under Vista

I check that if there is a newer version. The machine is not the youngest anymore, hopefully there are some Vista drivers. I keep you informed.

Not a bug / Sound cracking under Vista
« on: September 12, 2007, 05:10:22 PM »
Hi Mnemonic,

on our Vista system is the sound cracking (hope it is the right word...). It means, that the sound is playing but it makes short noises while playing.

The specs are the following:

Vista Ultimate
AC97 Onboard sound (Gigabyte board)

Are there any known issues? It happens only in WME not in other progs/games. So it doesn't seem to be a driver issue.
The game has been compiled with 1.8beta3

The WME 3d demo shows how to do it. Anyway threadtitles covering your problem will cause faster answers.
Just as a hint.

1) Yes it is possible, I use it for some basic facial expressions

2) I think Mnemonic is right

3) It can also cause problems with the shadows (they do look very grainy and ugly when scaling the actor very large up in WME's act3d file)

So try activating the dummies in the exporter. Hm, it is stupid, I guess you tried that before, but it is the last idea I have.

Nope I tried that before (for some facial expression stuff) but it doesn't work, so I made some additions to the biped, nothing special, a few bones for the mouth and a simple tape object based eye control which leads to some very basic facial anims.

Erm what did you use to control your IK chains? Dummies?

Nope, I wouldn't say that but biped makes it easier, especially when working with Mocap data as we do.
On the other hand, a custom rig gives more control, yes, but why doing the work, others have done before? Especially in WME's case the characters are not that complex that they are worth a custom rig. But thats only my opionion.

It seems that panda makes some crap. Nothing new to me, anyway. Panda doesn't understand something in your rig but via internet it is impossible for me to say what it could be.
One question: Why do you use a custom rig?

I do not use ICQ,

but anyway, yes there is only one Amo in the world and he has absolutely no idea what is wrong.
Try following: Download fragmotion from www.fragmosoft.com and import it there and take a look what is wrong there, maybe that helps.

First of all: The world is a village, you are the one who tried to help me papering my room, ain't you? Zottel  ;D

Ok, your exportoptions are wrong imho.
Try the following:

include animation ON
bones ON

That should do the trick.

If you used biped or what ever, make sure that the bones are set to not renderable within max, otherwise it looks funny.

It could be very helpfull if you could tell us what do you exactly mean with "wrecked" and if you could post the options you used for exporting.

Technical forum / Re: Confused about the animchannels
« on: August 28, 2007, 02:40:53 PM »
Hi adon,

as written above we have a solution since June  ;D but nevertheless thanks for your answer.
I recommend fragmotion really. When working with WME it is definetly its 25$ worth. Erasing keyframes is as easy as stealing a candy from a baby, merging anims from other X-files is an ease too and the x-files were exported optimized, which decreases filesize and runs still perfect in WME (right different from the mesh optimizing made by Panda exporter which leads mostly to very spikey models).
