sound clip problem
« on: April 21, 2009, 03:49:59 PM »

Hi

I have a problem with the game engine playing a sound effect. When streamed in game or previewed in pm there is a fairly loud audible bass pop at the end of the clip. This does not occur with an external media player. As this sound is part of my menu interface it is obviously quite important to minimise. Is there anyway to get around this? I tried converting it from wav to ogg in VLC but it is a very small clip and doesn't convert for some reason. Also tried changing a few other settings but doesn't seem to make a difference. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Maybe your File is bad. I would recommend Audacity as a free Audio Editor, which is able to import/export WAV, MP3, OGG . Try to export it to ogg with audacity and try again.

Audacity is good--I use a little program -- Acez All Audio Converter and have never had a problem with the smallest of files. You can play the converted sound in Acez to test it.  If it doesn't work out, I'd say there is definitely something wrong with your file.

From my experience with sound I learned that sometimes if the sound is too small you may have problems playing it.
This may be an engine issue, or a sound file problem (from the editor/convertor you used).
Try to add some silence at the end of it and check it out again.
