Wintermute Engine > WME Lite
Apples orientation policy
claymotiongames:
Hey guys been working with wme a while and xcode for a while and one of the common problems with apps being refused by Apple is lack of home button left and right orientation support. I am very excited about the possibilities of wme lite and have already got a game functioning on my device but without both landscape orientations supported Apple will reject apps made with wintermute.
HelLRaiseR:
Hi,
I'm looking for requirements like this one in the "App Store Review Guidelines" document and I don't found nothing about orientation.
If the apple policy it's as you say, why "five magical amulets" has been published? It's possible that only must be as you say, under specific cases. If not, I can't understand the Apple policy. Well, really... I can't never understand the Apple policy ;)
--- Quote ---JOKE mode ON
This is the only clear information that I've found about the approval process
JOKE mode OFF
--- End quote ---
Mnemonic:
App store review guidelines don't mention orientation explicitly. They only say you are bound by the terms of Human Interface Guidelines.
And Human Interface Guidelines say you *should* support both orientations.
As HelLRaiseR said, 'Five magical amulets' was approved, but maybe it depends on which of the reviewers is looking at your app, I don't know.
That said, of course it would be better if WME Lite supported orientation changes, but I had to disable the (unfinished) implementation in SDL, because it didn't work properly. I didn't have time to look into it since then.
claymotiongames:
First of all thanks for the speedy responses and for creating such an innovative and user friendly engine! Secondly as far as I am aware most of the rejected apps were made in the gs engine whih could have something to do with it. Anyway that's great news! Time to get started on the next biggest ios game. Maybe birdy anger or something lol
Spellbreaker:
As a total Game-Junkie I have ~100 Games on my iPad, and I thing about 10-20 of them don't support both landscape orientations, so I guess it's not really a problem.
Cheers,
Spellbreaker
