Woohoo!  ::rock
That's good to hear.
But man, financial issues aside, they could at least set up a Blogger account or a Facebook group.  ::slug

General Discussion / 'Once Upon a Time in Japan' is alive!

Hi there,
Does anybody know anything about what has happened to 'Once upon a Time in Japan' and its development studio, Abborado?  It was supposed to be being made with Wintermute, and there is still a link for it on the games page under "More Projects".  I used to keep an eye on the development of this title, but a long while ago they just ceased updating us on its progress and now their website has long gone.

I was just wondering if anyone around these parts has any inside knowledge about OUATIJ.  It seems like it's dead, but I have hope.

Cheers.

Some of you may have heard of a game being developed in Wintermute that was doing the rounds 3 or 4 years ago called 'Once Upon a Time in Japan'.

Some of you may also know that the guys behind the project disappeared from the face of the planet about a year ago, including the expiration of their website.  Until that point this was one of my most anticipated titles, but like everyone else following the project, I had assumed it was dead.

But today, for some reason I decided to check the address again... and I couldn't believe my eyes, but http://www.abborado.com is BACK!

As of October 30th, 2010, Abborado Studios has relaunched it's official website. While things will remain rough around the edges for a little while, we will be providing updates as "stuff" becomes available. Look for dev blogs, news, some activity in the forums (when they open) and and the latest information on Once Upon a Time in Japan (and maybe some other things) to be posted at fairly irregular intervals!

Spread the word.  It's a promising project and the screenshots look gorgeous.

My only concern is that they're pretty much starting from scratch, which means history is more likely to repeat itself, but I'm ever hopeful that this will be a great game.
