How about .png support? The good thing is that it's patent free and I think (currect me If I am wrong) it support transperancy (like tga). It's not really important. I just personnaly love png format.

Yes, PNG supports alpha channels. And yes, I might add support for this format in the future. Those graphics files wouldn't take up so much space on my harddisk then :)

They would take much less space... One image 800x600x24bit in BMP format is 1400KB while the same file in the PNG (lossless) format would is 400KB. It's verry good for people with small HDs. But would that make any difference for the game's size after the compile? I don't think so. How good the zlib library compresses uncompressed RAW image files (such as BMP)?

I think the resulting size should be almost the same, since PNG also uses zlib to compress the images.
