You can check my current TODO list online to see which features are already planned for the future WME releases.

Thanks Jan. I have asked this before! I count 9 of my wishes in the features list!!! :) But I didn't see the "videos inside sprites" :( Are you thinking in adding that too in the wishlist or it is a  long-long-long-long-long-long task? I am asking because I might find usefull this feature in "dreams".

EDIT: Oh, and you forgot to add the problem with the greeks in the preview panel in the ProjectMan. You have said that you will make it to read the system font so that it could display every possible language (including greeks).

Great! Now we have more reasons to whine ("When is it ready"/ "Why isn't in the TODO-list?")  ;D ;D ;D

odnorf: It's not a big secret that I'm a *very* forgetful man. You'd better get used to it ;)

Somewhat I feel a bit guilty when I read the list  ::)

I think the "thumbnails for savegames" would be awesome and convenient.  I just purchased an adventure game called "Runaway: a Road Adventure" (for research purposes) and it uses thumbnails for savegames and I find it quite useful (and neat to look at). :D  Can't wait!

Did I ever say I wasn't very excited about Runaway?

(a big apology to the spanish section ;))

Great. That was one of the few threads that was on-topic. So... let me ask you a question: Which Space Quest game had a pink electronic rabbit?  ;D

Did I mention that I am still waiting for this game?

So... let me ask you a question: Which Space Quest game had a pink electronic rabbit?

Mhhh... I think it was... Space Quest IV? Yes, I'm sure, it was one of those bunnies like duracell's... But pink!

Did I say that I'm the best? LOL  ;D

(Now I hope I'm right, because if not, this is going to be even more ridiculous -_-U)

I believe MMR refers to the "I'm the best" part ;)

When will be realised new features of WME(or new version of WME)? :)
Title: Re:TODO list online
Post by: Mnemonic on November 07, 2003, 08:42:06 AM
The new build will be released... "when it's done" ;) Which should be fairly soon.

I hope it has at least "thumbnails for savegames"  ::)

New features looks really promising  ;) Too bad I won't be able to test the animated fonts any time soon...

(Is it my idea Mnemonic that the last days you have a lot more free time to program wme?)

What's the "WHQL" ??? (i saw it in the todo)
Title: Re:TODO list online
Post by: Mnemonic on March 30, 2004, 08:05:13 PM
WHQL stands for "Windows Hardware Quality Labs". If a driver is WHQL certified, it seems to connect to the Microsoft site sometimes (reported by odnorf and Jerrot), killing performance in some cases.  I thought the WHQL querying was disabled in WME, I'll have to look into it, because it seems it isn't.

"Microsoft Windows Hardware Quality Labs"...

It like a "signature" for a program/driver/etc than it has been tested by the microsoft quality labs and it was verified that it's working without bugs in windows...

...but... I have no idea what this has to do with wme  ???

EDIT: Damn... mnemonic was faster...  ;)

EDIT2:

...reported by odnorf and Jerrot...
WOW! That's an old report...

WOW! That's an old report...

Yes, but the problem went away for you. Now it's back and even meaner, because it took minutes for Jerrot to start a game because of the @#$%^ connecting to the internet.

Hey! Take a break...  ;) Are you trying to program-to-death?  ;D

Oh... and don't forget to add detailed instructions for the many new features...  what the hell Game.OpenDocument() does?
Title: Re:TODO list online
Post by: Mnemonic on April 12, 2004, 09:06:54 PM
Hehe, the big brother odnorf is watching me :)
Yeah, documenting all that stuff is exactly what I'm *not* looking forward to :)
OpenDocument opens a document file in an associated program, such as pdf in Acrobat etc. It also minimizes the WME window when running in fullscreen.

Hell,

this engine is so great. I spent something like 2 hours today and everything is working as one would expect. How is this possible? Before I was working with torque and I was almost tortured with illogical things. :)

I think frankly that when 3d characters ressurection will be complete, WinterMute will be the best engine available for adventure creation. Keep up the good work Jan.

Btw. would it be hard for wintermute to cook me a coffee? I'd like to click on the coffee button before each programming session.
Maybe if I connect coffee machine over serial?  ::beer

You might want to check out LZMA - http://7zip.org/ - which is stronger than bz2.
Title: Re: TODO list online
Post by: odnorf on April 03, 2005, 07:19:47 PM
It compressed much more but there are two other problems:
1)Bzip2 & zlib decompress afaik faster than lzma and that's a real benefit (please correct me if I am wrong),
2)Lzma is under LGPL and not BSD which means that it can't be integrated into the wme interpenter (only as a seperate library which is not as elegant as the current solution)

Hi mnemonic,

I just took a look at the todo list and I have some questions about symbols.

In the feature list, what do the 'x' marks mean ? And what about the '?' at the scrolling speed thing ?

Are the x-marked already done or currently being worked at ?

Thanks

Mac

Post by: Mnemonic on April 04, 2005, 08:03:40 AM
Hi Mac, the "x" items are already done and will appear in the next release. As for the scrolling, I was experimenting with the ScrollingSpeed* attributes and it seemed to me to it was possible to tweak the scrolling speed without any further modification to the engine. I don't remember the exact values I used (and I don't have the project with me now), but I think I simply set the scrolling speed to zero.

Hi, in past i made 2 or 3 suggestion, and i don't like they lost in forgetfulness, because I think that they are great ideas  ;D

 - 3d actor block region and waypoints (useful for 2 actors not standing, http://forum.dead-code.org/index.php?topic=1039.0)
 - 3d actor animate textures (useful for eye or something similar, http://forum.dead-code.org/index.php?topic=1039.0
 - 3d Scene block area more easy for non complex 3d Scene (http://forum.dead-code.org/index.php?topic=1088.0)

If they are possible to be included in todo.txt, i'll be very pleased
That's all, thanks very much!!  ;)

Don't worry, I'm well aware of these.

Let me add that Mnemonic also has a not-online todo list. Yes, he likes to act in mysterious ways  ;D

EDIT: I just got a mail-bomb from mnemonic. ;) So... because I'm scared I'm taking everything I said back. He is just having a great memory. ;D

I drink very much  ::beer and for this i haven't great memory  ::hijack (and i think other don't have also, jejeje)... But i know Mnemonic have doing a really good job and when he can make the improvements that we propose, but our duty work we must have to suggest, remember and oppress if it's possible (I take note of mail bomb ;D)
Is logical, than Mnemonic don't update todo.txt with all suggestion we can do (they wouldn't have time for nothing), sorry for all inconvenience, and as terminator says:
I'll be back  ;)

Will slider control be released in the next version of WME (1.8.7 I guess)?
