My first WME Scene
« on: March 12, 2003, 11:17:41 PM »

Here's a playable scene from my tinkerings with WME.  I really dig this engine!

Download here:
http://www.bigmoon.net/leo.zip (about 10M)
Unzip and throw it in a folder with wme.exe

It's still a bit rough around the edges.  Who knows, I might even make a whole game.

Oh yeah, it's compiled with build 19 and requires hardware acceleration.

The wme.exe (WME engine runtime) can be downloaded here:
http://www.dead-code.org/download/wme_runtime.zip (400 KB)

Congrats! I'm downloading it right now. Nice screenshot!!
Now go on and make the whole game  ;D

Update: I just played it :) I love the graphics and the puzzles you implemented until now! I'd say: CONTINUE :)
I love how you implemented the fish animation.

Great graphics, I already love this ant!

I will never understand how people are able to create whole games in 3D, I would need days just to create something like the couch... !

Anyway - "911" on the cellular doesn't work. Although I fed the fish.  ;)

Go on!  :D

(Oh, and there is a little error, at the couch you can "climb up the wall" to the top of the screen...)

I'm curious... did you make it out of the room?

Well since I can't draw it's my only option!  :)
Actually I usually just search the web for free models and modify them to my liking.  If I don't find something close to what I want, then I'll make it from scratch.

Hey obleo. Nice screenshot. Really nice. I'm not going to download it though, since I probably wouldn't be able to play it because of the "HW acceleration required" feature ;)

About your "I can't draw" illusion: you're wrong. I have never drawn anything in my life, and until recently, I was sure I couldn't draw a straight line if my life depended on it -- but with a little practise and a few really awesome tutorials, I discovered that it wasn't too hard. Drawing on top of photographs and then finishing the job myself sure works for me, and it would for you too.

Oh, who am I kidding, I know this won't convince you of anything. Before I read those tutorials and gave it a shot myself, everyone kept telling me all the same stuff, and I sure never believed them; not even for a second.. I bet you feel the same way :P

Actually I only fed the fish and stopped, I did not expect you included that, but when I read this question I restarted and escaped. :)

Scarpia is right, I 've never used a pencil in my life before, but after trying a little in the evenings and reading some interesting tutorials, you will really ask yourself whether it was you, who just drew that charming bistro.  8) But creating characters in 3d... uhh...

Actually I like both, 3d and drawings, and your scene is really cute, very nice animations (taking the phone!).

Hi, I just downloaded the demo.  Am I missing something, there seems to be only a data file in the zip.  How do I run it?

Copy the wme.exe file to the same folder and run it, that should be enough.

The wme.exe file is part of the WME development kit distribution.

Gah... this little board bug is annoying!

Anyway. Could you perhaps post links to those tutorials you mentioned? I'm sure I can do it, I just normally don't have the patience necessary. Maybe tutorials might help...

Thanks.

Hm, unfortunately I didn't save the links, but have a look at

http://www.ngongo-b.net/

and lookup Developer->Graphics and Developer->Animation.

Some of these links are really helpful. But there were some other sources... hm, I'll tell you if I find them again.

This thread is 7 years old. I don't think it would even work now. :)
