Thanks joaomesq, it actually looks quite scary but I'll give it a try :)
If anyone does know an easier video editing software, feel free to post.

Thanks again!

Hi there, I am still working on my game and I'd like to put some (extremely simple) cutscenes in it.
Is there any free/open source video editing software (like Adobe Premiere)?
I am currently using only free software and I'd like to continue this way :) I am currently using Synfig Studio and Pencil for animations, Audacity for sound editing, Inkscape for backgrounds and GraphicsGale for icons, cursors and objects.
I checked both the Starving Developer's Guide and the internet, but no luck.

Any idea?
Thanks!

Absolutely stunning, can't wait to play it!
Are you working on this alone?

Thanks Akusa!
I didn't think I could find motion capture files so easily, I am currently trying to use them in Blender.
Hope we can manage it!

Long time, no see :)
We are still working on the game, and it's getting better (well, I have a few problems I am going to discuss on the tech forum). I hope to have a demo available in a month.
In the meantime, here's a front image of Carlo, our main hero!

Stay tuned!

Thank you very much, Myles!
I was afraid this comic-bookish style was not right for a game
I will forward your compliments to my brother, who's the main artist!

Cheers,
Luca

We darkened it a bit and put in our main character (sorry, Molly!).
The walk animation really needs improvement, but we're working on it.

You're right, darker images will better suit the game's atmosphere  ::thumbup
The characters are our real problem, right now. 2D animation on paper is a pain and my skills with 3D are dated back to the DOS version of 3D Studio!!!

Maybe I posted too early  :-\

Oh, well, we'll see.
Cheers!

PS One of the reasons I started developing this game is the release of White Chamber's source code, I loved that game!

Thanks for pointing out that, Darky!
The storyline will involve a few moral decisions (that will lead to three different endings) and some gory images, I think I can classify it as "mature" (I am going to edit the first post  :)).

Hi everyone!
"Asylum" is the temporary (and uninventive  :)) title of an adventure my brother and I are trying to complete using the great WME engine. It tells the story of a man's escape from an asylum that is currently burning down, with many crazy guys running around and some hidden truths to be unveiled. It sounds clichè?  ;D
We have 50% of the plot, the main characters and a few initial screens. I am attaching a couple of them for you to review, please be kind!

These are the features we are focusing on
  • third-person view
  • intriguing mature plot (yeah, no one has a boring one!)
  • coherent puzzles
  • 1024x768 resolution
  • an original soundtrack
I am still evaluating the 2.5D thing, though.

Well, I hope that posting here is a way of getting this project complete!
What do you think?
