Hi everyone,

I just added a new page of alien skin textures…I’m sure they could be used for other things as well….(feel free to edit as needed.) I’ll be expanding this page in the coming weeks:

TXR – ALIEN SKINS

https://soundimage.org/txr-alien-skins/

Be sure to check my music thread on Wednesday…lots of brand new tracks are coming out.

And to kick off 2019, I’ll be starting a new section for game art…backgrounds, sprites, etc.

Have a happy (and safe) new year!

Hello everyone!

As December draws to a close so does our self-imposed deadline on delivering our first backer-exclusive reward – K’NOSSOS Chapter I beta access!

Ok, so – what to expect in K’NOSSOS Chapter I Beta? First off, we have implemented a PDA to help out with gathering clues from computers and various other devices found in the game world.

Second, we have implemented a map of the entire Chapter I area which is available from the start, with new locations being unlocked as you visit them.

In addition to the map we have implemented a double click navigation, where double clicking on any navigation point will make the game skip PC’s walk to the exit point and jump straight to the target location. Fourth thing we added is not exactly new as it’s been present since the updated Prologue we put out in August – it’s the bitmap fonts. Finally, the fifth “new” in this Beta – we have added detailed close-up views for several items.

You can read more about the stuff we introduced in our latest Kickstarter Update: https://kck.st/2s40AB6

We wish all of you lots and lots of success, happiness and fulfillment in 2019!

Hi guys!

I noticed that the methods I created (or overridden) delay the execution of the script when I call them. What is the reason?
This is noticeable on weak smartphones.

Example:
Code: [Select]
method StartMusic(Filename, Looping, LoopStart) {
  if (this.GetMusic() != Filename) this.PlayMusic(Filename, Looping, LoopStart);
}

I have not thought this through to much - but I dont see the need for an editor control would be necessary, a normal static should be enough

 p code would run something like this

define illegal chars
var somestring
while not illegal
   while not return
        input key
        somestring = somestring+key
        static. Text - Static.Text + "*"

   endwhile
endwhile

static.text = " "
continue processing somestring

not tested - but that would be my start point

So yeah, I'm trying to make it so that asterisks re shown whle typing a text.
I have a window and an editor control. If the player presses Return and the editor is not empty, it stores the text in a var.
My spaghetti code is this:
Code: [Select]
var DescriptionControl = self.GetControl("insert");

global DescriptionText;
DescriptionControl.CursorChar = "|";

global editornou;

var mesaj = "";
var removeAsterisk = "";
var asterisk="";
var SomeText ="";

var count=0;
on "Keypress"
{

if(Keyboard.KeyCode!=VK_RETURN)
{
//this is the logic that masks the letters with asterisks
count=count+1;
SomeText = DescriptionControl.Text;

var StrObject = new String(SomeText);

mesaj = mesaj+removeAsterisk;

if(StrObject.Length>1)
{
removeAsterisk = StrObject.Substr(count-1, StrObject.Length); //remove *
}
else if(StrObject.Length==1)
{
removeAsterisk = StrObject;
}

DescriptionControl.Text = AsteriskRecursion(count, asterisk);
}

//If return is pressed and the input bar isn't empty
       if(Keyboard.KeyCode==VK_RETURN  && mesaj != "")
            {
while(afostselectat)
{
mesaj = mesaj+removeAsterisk;
//save user input in the inputline variable
DescriptionText = mesaj;

//Game.UnloadObject(this);
DescriptionControl.Visible = false;

Sleep(10);
}

            }

            //In case enter is pressed when the inputline is empty
            else if(Keyboard.KeyCode==VK_RETURN && mesaj == "") //DescriptionControl.Text == "")
            {
                    this.Text = "Please enter your description";
DescriptionControl.Text = "";
DescriptionControl.CursorChar = "|";
}

}

My questions:
1. is there an easier way to achieve this?
2. this code only works if the user doesn't press backspace. If backspace is pressed (to delete a letter for example), it messes the entire string with lots of asterisks shown (more than it should be). I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong :D

Help :D

Here are this week’s new free tracks. They are all from my Funny pages:

CHEESY SCIENCE (Looping) - Classic 50s sound…conjures up cardboard sets, blinking lights and extra cheese. Good for satire.
https://soundimage.org/funnyquirky/

DO IT (Looping) – “This is your conscience speaking…” in humorous hip-hop style.
https://soundimage.org/funnyquirky/

THE ASTRONOMY CLUB (Looping) – Somehow these kids always seemed to have a lovable goofiness about them. I was never in the astronomy club, but probably should have been…I love all things having to do with space (and certainly qualified as far as the goofy factor was concerned!)
https://soundimage.org/funny-3/

THE DRUNK PELICAN DUET (Looping) – This is what happens when 1) you hire a couple of pelicans to play drums and accordion outside your dockside restaurant, and 2) you let them drink before the gig.
https://soundimage.org/funny-4/

PLASTERED BY LUNCH TIME (Looping) – They stumble out of the bar, their bellies sloshing with beer, and head back to work…if they can find their way back to work…lol.
https://soundimage.org/funny-5/

Enjoy…and Happy Holidays!
