General Discussion / Re: FUTURE OF WME 1 (Solved)
« on: October 04, 2009, 11:51:15 AM »
none of these bugs are "horrible". If you looked closely, they are either resolved or work-aroundable, so calling this "horrible bugs" is very huge overstatement. Moreover, some of the threads are actually long time solved issues.

None of those "issues" could possible stop you from making your game as you always can find a way how to proceed. I found strange that none of those threads are actually yours. Did you personally encounter such problems in your own project?

I am saying this because I got helped by Mnemonic many times. The difference is though that I usually gave him some minimalistic repro project he could test on his own. This way we easily tracked what is engine error and what was my sloppy scripting. Posting thousand times the same stuff without even putting your own work on the table and using old long-resolved threads as an example (which couldn't even remotely apply to your project as my thread for example is about very unusual way how to use wme for totally different kind of the game) doesn't add credibility to your "complains".

I bet you that as soon as you'll bring your own problems based on real experience with WME, the response will be way different. Take it as an advice from someone who already worked on couple of games and got his own WME game worldwide published. WME is very stable engine and customer's support was a breeze because of that.

I expressed badly, there was the "horrible bugs" in WME, sorry (my post before your:).
I just wanted some "cosmetic" fixes, for the "nicer" ending of WME 1.x  ;D
Mnemonic relased WME 1.8.11 and 1.9.0 beta now, which is great! (Thanks Mnem., :) :)

I found strange that none of those threads are actually yours. Did you personally encounter such problems in your own project?

Not really, but I do not want to ask for support on WME forums with problems and problems.

I just want to ask if is in WME documentation writed how to prevent (to avoid), some errors in the WME compiler...?
(What about this: http://forum.dead-code.org/index.php?topic=3368.0 ?)
Is "work-around" this bug in WME script compiller described in WME docs...?

I just want to have all these errors described in WME documentation and how they are bypassing ...
(So NOT searching on WME forums.)

That's all,
Thanks,

Won't implement / Re: GameSettings tab and WindowEdit tool.
« on: October 02, 2009, 11:25:19 AM »
I'm sorry, but this is not a realistic request. WindowEdit is designed for editing WME windows, with all their specifics and features. Editing Windows dialogs is quite a different beast. Considering WME is open source, anyone so inclined can completely redesign the dialog in Visual Studio and recompile wme.exe.

Yeah, I don't think about this way before, thanks for idea.
Res. tool is only in MS Visual Studio Pro version, right?

Won't implement / GameSettings tab and WindowEdit tool.
« on: September 26, 2009, 09:56:27 PM »
Hi,
I I'm not sure if someone already suggested, so I am writing here now,
Is it possible to "integrate" into WindowEdit tool the ability to edit Game settings tab at the start of games created with WME (add / delete items, text, images, etc...)...?
Thanks many times,  ;D

Many thanks!   ::thumbup

May I ask, in return, why?  :)

Of course, you can, :)
About a year ago, I tried Ardour, so I just wondered what the professionals use.;D

8
To nikolas,
Which software you use, if I may to ask? :)

Can't reproduce / Re: Computer Reset when using wintermute!
« on: September 10, 2009, 01:37:29 PM »
Yes, I use it to play a lot of games (examples: Call of Duty 4, Runaway 2, Crazy Machines, Command and Conquer Red alert 3...) and working with 3d on this computer... several games give me some error (splinter cell double agent) but just crash the game, not reseting the computer... I have no idea on what can be...

The problem can be in hardware acceleration of your graphics card as well.

To Lohikaarme -

You can try DAGE http://rahakasvi.hinguere.fi/Dage/docs/doku.php as well.
I never use it, but it looks cool,
If you are interested in creating "3D adventure" games, try this first http://forum.dead-code.org/index.php?topic=3824.0
You can try to deal with the creation of games.
It is not easy.
But if you got the enthusiasm, time and ideas, you can try to create your own game.
Good luck!  :)

Technical forum / Re: Change settings window
« on: September 07, 2009, 04:49:42 PM »
Yes i could use shortened term. But is it possible that you give this feature to Wme that users can modify Settings Window. Something like Window edit?
There are applications that can edit embedded resources, for example resource hacker.

With ResHack is not possible to edit "wme.exe", come this error:

EDIT>

Tested with Restorator 2009 and PE Explorer - I get same message.

Try other editors.

Yeah, many thanks for your help ;D
Are you want personal aircraft?
Buy it!  ;D

Hi Mnemonic,

are you planning to release a patch to solve this error?

Thanks a lot.

Mnemonic told me on IRC, "I am working on the new version", so just wait and have patience :)

Oh! I have patience but we can't just wait till new version release (overall if using the new version implies deep changes in the current code we have). Te reason for asking about a patch is in order to decide if we can mantain the actual interface or if we'll have to redesign it.  ;)

I'm a great admirer of Mnemonic's work and I don't want to appear impatience or that I want put preassure on him. I only ask for some info in order to make our own decisions about the progress of our game...

I also need to further development of my game a bugfix relase of WME 1.xx
Therefore I write to Mnemonic on IRC and he said, I am working on WME 2 and the new version of WME 1.x,
New version of WME 1.X should be fully compatible with version 1.8.10, it will only contain bug fixes (and maybe something new), but not rewritten the entire code.
(The entire code will be overwritten in WME 2 (WME 2 is not compatible with 1.x), but new WME 1.x version is fully compatible with 1.8.10, so again just wait.:)

I said to Mnemonic, Please discontinue work on WME2 and please now work  on the last (bugfix) version of WME 1, and after that continue works on WME 2, but I think, Mnemonic is now angry at me:)

WME2 is still at an early stage of development and will take a long time and lot's of hard work to go to the final stage.
Another problem is - WME2 is not backward compatible with WME1, so I understand you and I want too a new version from WME 1.X "series" (which corrected all serious bugs), but...    decision is at Mnemonic.
