Force Direction of Actor
« on: January 08, 2006, 03:01:52 PM »

Hi all,
Has anyone done the following, or know how this can be done?

- The issue is when the actor walks up or down a hill or stairs etc that is sideways on to the player, I want to force the actor to walk only to the right or left whilst moving to a GoTO point in the scene. (say top of stairs or hill)

The outcome I am looking for is the actor faceing always right or left depending on orientation of hill/stairs and walking to the point clicked on in the scene.

At the moment I have the actor moving up stairs but using UPRIGHT and RIGHT directions and coming down the stairs using DOWNLEFT and LEFT directions.

Many thanks

You could define very narrow paths covering the stairs/hill. That way the actor would be forced to use the direction of that path. Or you could make a custom animation for walking up the hill/stairs and use it instead of GoTo().
