Small graphic on each screen
« on: November 04, 2008, 04:08:08 PM »

If you wanted to have a small graphic file appear on each screen (like the inventory box) -- is there a simple method to do that?  And be able to hide it like the inventory box can be hidden?

Simply create a sprite and put the graphic in there.

I'd suggest creating a window for that. Window's are scene independent and you can do other funny things with them. :) Depends on what it's for.

Thanks Spellbreaker and Metamorphium.  The sprite I can do easily but I was thinking of something more global--a window might be good. Don't know much about them yet but will look it up.  : )

Would be the player figure--the girl or guy experiencing the story, instead of the 3d walking figure.  Then would have to script the appearance of a different picture and fading of normal picture to show her hurt or dead.  Still working through WME book but beginning to flesh out a story.   :)

Hmm. I see Window Editor is the last section of WME book--getting there:  : )

Hmm. Lots of interesting stuff in there including something about inventory that slides out of a backpack.   :)

Player face as status graphic as in Doom?
I did something similar a year ago, maybe I've got the stuff lying around somewhere.
I used a windows to display the faces.

Unfortunately I've never played Doom but I think since I'm an rpg-oriented cat you have the right idea.  Our story will be more story, humor, puzzle-oriented than killing oriented.  The killing will be an unintended consequence but as you know, life is not always as you would like it to be and death is always around the corner.  But that sounds about right. The little face or faces would be there to substitute for the 2.5d model as in some rpgs.

When I'm ready, if I have problems and post them, if you can help, it would be very much appreciated.
