Have you played the adventure game called "Sanitarium"? It's a really great game, that every weird-person (like me) should play. It's a psychological & physical horror adventure game (think about something between Lovecraft and Poe) with great isometric graphics. For me it's one of the three best horror adventure games I have ever played (the other two are "Alone in the dark 1" and "Shadow of the comet" by infogrames - now Atari).
-
Unfortunately I missed that one :(
-
I don't know if you like horror adventures (and weird in general), but if you, you should try to find it. It's a not very well known masterpiece (IMO always).
-
I know the game, I even played the demo years ago. But somehow I never got my hands on the full game.
-
Sanitarium is a GREAT game!!!
If you want to get the full version you can download at home of the underdogs:
http://www.the-underdogs.org/
-
Hmmm, unless I missed something, it's not downloadable (yet :))
-
AAaaarrrggghhhh, yeah I just checked they put it down. I downloaded it from there and played it, but that's already a year ago.
-
I, just like Mnemonic, only played the demo a lot of time ago, but never had the chance to play de full game... But I liked what I played. Does it work OK under windows XP?

Check the lists at www.ntcompatible.com
Sorry, but I don't the time to test it.

Hmm...
http://www.ntcompatible.com/cdetail11260.html
first one sais it doesn't work with ATi cards, and I have an ATi, but second sais it works with Windows 98 compatibility settings, but he/she didn't mention about graphic cards... Well, I'll have to try if I ever find the game I suppose.

You can try e-bay, http://www.rochnet.net/acatalog/Home_Page_Mystery___Puzzle_Adventures_R_S_77.html or do a search for "buy sanitarium".
-
Sanitarium is a AWESOME game. I'm playing it for the second time.
BTW it worked just fine in Win XP, and I have an on-board SiS video card so... ;P.
-
Hmmm, I think the underdogs do have Sanitarium again. At the moment... Be quick! http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=939

But it's a cd-rip version. I don't know whether they have ripped something off or if they have reduce the quality of the movies + speech but the original 3 cd version worth the money imo ;)
-
Great Deadworm, i'll try that asap :o
-
I played that version. It's ok, I never played the non-rip version, so I don't really know what I am missing.
You have cutscenes, they are kind of like a slide show (don't know if the original has videos). No speech of course, but subtitles.
Only one problem, when you are in the house (after the fair/circus) the subtitles dissapear in less than a second making them impossible to read.
-
Well... the game has videos (slide shows? I don't think so) and of course full speech. I still recommend the original version as usual. It's not the same thing to legally own a gameofcourse imo. ;)
-
Of course ;) Anyway, the original version seems to be a good idea... videos are better than a slide show, and full speech - cool. I'll try to buy it, should be rather cheap these days.

Are you talking about the original 3CD version or the Underdog CD rip? Well the version I had was from Home of the Underdogs but before they took it away. Instead of videos you had no sound and just pictures as cut-scenes.
Yeah I do agree with you about buying the original, but then only if you can really get your hands on the original for a fair price. Personally I think if ebay is the only place you can get a game you might as well copy it because the original manufacturer will not earn any money of it either way!
Also something else. On Apogee's website you can download their old games for 10.- $ each. I am sorry but 10.$ for an old DOS game that runs on a 286 machine is too much. Unles 80% of the price is for support because nobody knows anymore how to make it run ;)

Have you played the adventure game called "Sanitarium"?
Did it start in a candyfloss machine?...

The original 3CD version ofcourse. I always buy the adventure games I play.
Did it start in a candyfloss machine?
??? I don't think so :D

What exactly is a candyfloss machine?

A machine that makes candyfloss...? ;)

Ok, let me specify my question: What is candyfloss? ;)
