Hmmm, difficult, like every Indie I think to have the greatest idea the world has seen  ;D

My plan is to finish a rudimentary but working and usable platform and then to look for some devoted teammates. Unfortunately I am not a super duper coder, so it will take some time.
I will send you some screenshots from my prototype (done with Blitzmax and MiniB3D btw). But please don't spread them. I know it's idiotic, but I'm really excited about this and would love to have finished it sometimes, even if it takes me some years (or until the children are at school ;) )

PS: But after the match  O0

PPS: How did you animate your characters? I usually use Animation Studio pro for this stuff.

PPPS: Reading what you expect form a 3d tool me think you could give Blitz3d a try or even better Blitzmax but then wait for the soon to come new fullfledged 3d module, all multi-platform of course. Unfortunataly the demo is outdated...

Okay, this is weird: I just stumbled over the Russian version of Dirty Split here, with a totally different cover with somebody else's artwork on it mixed with my own. So I got curious and downloaded the whole thing, and - WHAM - it actually IS a Russian version, with all the 2000+ text strings translated into Russian, and the graphics as well! :o

Who would do that? How did they get the sources? And why would they put so much genuine effort into it and yet do it secretly, if all they had to do was ask and get my full support? ::)

... maybe because they want to sell it? or simply get all the fame? shamefull behaviour IMO  ::thumbdown
Why not contact them and ask?

It's still available for free, they don't seem to make any profit from it. And I'm still mentioned as the author, and Dreamagination Entertainment as the source company, so there goes the fame.
This is really strange...

hmmm, very strange, I would understand the translation, but the different artwork in some cases, hmm? Well, simply ask them  ;D

Well there are very active amateur game translation groups in some countries. I know it's the case of Italy, and apparently Russia as well. Those teams usually have programmers/hackers who specialize in decoding game files.

Wow, I had no idea.
Ah well. I don't even mind the translation itself, I'm actually glad if more people can enjoy the game. As far as I can tell, they even did a decent job. It's just a very rude thing to do without my knowledge. Of course it's a violation of the EULA, but what can you do.

@Dudeldei
Easier said than done. The website seems to be a warez site of some sorts, and I don't expect them to be very cooperative ;) Besides, I think the original source of the translation is actually somewhere entirely different, and they didn't exactly provide any contact information.
Hm... now that I come to think of it... that IS a warez site, and they probably think they're offering a full price product. And looking at the cover... hmmm. Looks like someone in Russia might actually be packaging and selling Dirty Split.

Hm. I know I should have included a message that says "If you paid money for this, you got ripped off".

Hmm, did I already mention that you actually have created a very nice game, worth selling? But what were you looking on a warez site again?  C:-) and beware of the russian mafia!  ::slug
Better  ::beer and not  investigate too much. You can always sue them when they want to sell your/their game in Europe.

Wouldn't be the first time someone sells free products. I would clearly make an announcement on your website regarding this.

Just downloaded the Game by the way, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Intro :) Great Music, great style :)

Damn that sucks man, I hope they translated my name in Russian for the into credits  ;D :P

But seriously, you should maybe look into it a bit just to find out if they are selling it. It might just be interesting to know if they are. Hopefully next time you can make a commercial game that gives you what you deserve and not some other guys that didn't do anything but hack and translate the game.

It's ok though they can have that game, I'm pretty sure you have something better in the making right  ;)
All the best Schnuffel.

Cheers ::beer

Thanks, guys :)

You know, the best thing to do might be putting the Russian version on my website as well. Free for everyone to download, just like the English and German version (and a Czech version soon, hopefully). With special thanks to the unknown contributors ;D
