Total Chaos in WME
« on: December 27, 2005, 02:10:02 AM »

Hi,

I was again a bit bored tonight so I decided to bring some chaos into WME. Watch out:

http://www.jamu.cz/kavan/chaos.zip

It's of course completely useless but it's fun.

Mnemonic: interesting is that my minimalistic project works only if dcgf.ini is included otherwise it doesn't show anything,
could it be the problem that I removed even inventory from the project. ;)

Wow ;D Was it originally supposed to do something else or is this the intended effect? :)

That's probably because you're not loading the correct scene in game.script, the scene is only loaded when the game runs in debug mode (when the debug scene setting in ProjectMan is in effect).

Ah, Of course. I thought it would be something simple like this, but it was very late when I was finishing the packaging. ;) Thanks!

Anyway, yes it's the desired effect, and it's completely useless. What you see here is so called Lorentz Attractor which is one
of the very interesting selfsimilar set being part of the Theory of Nonlinear Dynamic systems (former and better known as a theory
of chaos). This set is defined by three trivial differential equations which looks as follows:

dx/dt = sigma (y-x)
dy/dt = rho x - y - xz
dz/dt = xy - beta z

I am using only X/Z projection which achieves the desired effect of "butterfly wings". Funny thing about this atractor is that
it's a way how to display infinity on the finite space. If you watched the progression of those two wings you would see that it never repeats. If we had infinitely good resolution we would see that it gets more filled each elipse. :)

Well enough of physics, enjoy... :D

That is impressive... Next time you are bored you can come to greece.

PS. Nice to see you are using the kx drivers for your soundcard  ;)

EDIT: Oh... and remove the right click function from your scene.script file. It returns a "Call to undefined method 'GoTo' ;)

I've uploaded fixed version with coloring according to Y axes and flipped wings to better position.
