I know it would be a big ask.. but consider the benifits:
Small file sizes
the ability to call frame animation
on movie hotspots
quality
loads of resource
special effects
oh.. and i could use it ;D
AM already has Flash support, and Visionaire are considering it
Theres a open source project http://www.gnashdev.org/ that can be embedded into an application

Tricky Stuff ...

Just because there could be a third party implementation or because there is a gpl implementation this doesn't make flash public domain. It's covered by patents and the use of it without a licence is illegal.

When it comes to making application i have no idea how these things work.. I leave it to you guys :)
BUT what could be done with timeline animation is endless specially if there was away to get WM to call frames from within the movie or likewise get flash to call WM events
You can do things like 5 digit codes on an alarm keypad without any heavy coding
Also there is a free program called liveswif than can do Flash swf's all be it only AS1
I normally do Flash games with Lassie but the next version needs Flash CS3 which i can't really justify the expense

it's so easy to code this in WME, that I don't really understand why to implement something so crazy as Action Script. I'd rather had my hands chew off by a grue, than to code in Flash again. ::slug >:D

i see another benefit that comes with flash. the possibility of masking !! this is really a very powerful feature !
i did the flash request myself long time ago just for this feature.
i would really love to have masking in wme ....

from the games developers point of view i wouldn't of thought there would be a need for any hard core AS,its suprising what you can do with just timeline... so you could keep your hands ;)
and yes masking ;D

Flash is Flash, and Wintermute is Wintermute. You just want to make make one authoring system playback content from another one. Next up will be the question for ags-support in wme.
@metamorphium: Actionscript has turned into an powerful language over the years, not to be underestimated.

sychron: I know. I've coded our crappy gits web pages in AS. :)
