after a long time the new AGAST version was released today, welcome to DirectX support finally. If you did not already decide for an engine, don't miss a look on it.

No, I don't know. But...well, if you are going to write some system from scratch, why not to use the latest technology available at the moment?

Mnemonic has it mostly right, though when I wrote the Direct3d-based graphics system, DX9 wasn't out yet. I ported to DirectX 9 partway through work on Morningstar because I want access to the improved DirectShow feature set for future versions. We didn't want to have to worry about porting issues when people were already using Morningstar.

Yeah, I can uderstand it. DirectShow in DX8 sucks big time :/ Especially when it comes to integration with D3D...

Sometime I would like to see a very comprehensive comparison table detailing the features in WME and AGAST and how they compare. WME is our engine of choice for Curves of Danger (and for good reason), but for future projects it would be handy to have a detailed list.
I wouldn't want Russell or Mnemonic to do this ;) since they would both be a bit biased. I'd like to see such a list put together by someone who has extensive experience with each and is fully capable of being objective.
