Technical forum / Re: Query regarding widescreen settings
« on: August 25, 2013, 07:10:22 AM »
I think either one would be all right for most applications as long as it goes full screen.  I didn't like it when there were borders on a laptop because it's kind of small already.  It might not work on some televisions, but not that many people play computer games on their television.

That's interesting.  I should have checked that log, but I still wouldn't have thought it would work on a 1366 x 768 laptop.  Good to know.
Just about everything runs on 720p, which is 1280 x 720, for instance, it's the native resolution for Ice Cream Sandwich in android.  It's on televisions, etc.  Anything that has that resolution or higher will probably run on it.

I couldn't get 1366 x 768 working either without black borders.   1280 x 720 seems to work fine.  It's pretty much standard for most devices.

I think the texture sets the alpha value, so you could change the texture to a texture with a different alpha value.

That's just the way the light hits the object, so it's asking a lot for it to disappear, which sounds like what you are asking.  If there's no code for it, you're kind of out of luck.  You would have to use a sprite or get it added to the next version.

I would use separate scenes, but I would create a subfolder which held the 4 view scenes so it didn't end up too messy.

Technical forum / scene template
« on: July 08, 2013, 04:27:48 AM »
There is a scene template for 1280 x 720 in scripts and plugins, but doesn't say how to use it.  What do I do with it?  I've been resetting everything on each new scene so far.  Apparently we can make our own then?  Is there any information on it?

Also, out of curiosity, is it possible to change the skin on the Wintermute setup window that asks for full screen etc?

General Discussion / Re: Character Movement Question

I have no turn animation right now, and the turn is perfectly smooth.  Trouble is, it's like a top turning without an animation.  Perhaps your angular velocity speed is too fast or slow.  It's in the actor3d file.  It may also be animation blending if you have a turn animation that perhaps makes it look choppy.  I notice the 8 directions, but not the choppiness.  Are you getting 60 fps?  Perhaps it's your computer also.  My walk animation looks a little jerky, I think I need to add more key frames or something.

Nice looking game.  I'm not really into twitch games, so can't comment on anything else.

Don't know why it can't, but you can create a script that dynamically change the position of the shadow according to a fixed point.

I edited my original post, sorry, but that's a good idea.  For now, it looks good with a more subtle shadow directly overhead.

Never mind.  I found SetLightPosition() and the actor3d comments for Trinity.

Is there a way to offer shadow choice in game settings?  Just wondering for slower computers.
