Technical forum / AlphaColor problem
« on: June 11, 2014, 06:58:46 PM »
Hi guys. I want to make a main menu with 5 buttons. And I want to make the individual buttons semi-transparent (alpha value of 128 for example) when the mouse is over them.

So I tried to attach a simple script to one of the five buttons. This is the script:
Code: [Select]
on "MouseEntry"
{
this.AlphaColor = RGB(255, 255, 255, 90);
}
Also note that I've also tried using MakeRGBA(255, 255, 255, 128); instead of simply RGB, but it still didn't work.

Nothing happens. So I tried attaching the following script to the button:
Code: [Select]
on "MouseEntry"
{
this.Visible = false;
}
And it worked. If the mouse was over the button, it would toggle its visibility off. So the MouseEntry event is working. It's just the AlphaColor attribute that doesn't work for buttons.

Using the first code on the window's scripty worked with the desired effect: all the buttons were rendered semi-transparent. However, I want to make individual buttons semi-transparent, not all of them, so I need to use the code from a script attached to each button, not one attached to the window.
I even tried to do something different: from the button's attahced script, I set a variable to true on MouseEntry, and from the window's script on MouseEntry I check if the variable is true and then get control of the button and toggle its AlphaColor to half transparency. It still doesn't work.

So, anyone has any idea why the AlphaColor attribute doesn't work for buttons?

Technical forum / Noise Filter
« on: August 27, 2012, 10:51:42 PM »
Hi guys,

any elegant solutions for making a noise filter like the Silent Hill games?
I was thinking of making the noise in an image editing software and animating it either as foreground layers or an animated theora video (with transparency), but it doesn't really sound that elegant.

Could it be done with the paticle emmitors? Or is there a more elegant solution?

Help wanted and offered / In attention of all 2.5D WME-adventure makers.
« on: December 23, 2006, 09:48:29 PM »
This ideea came to me with the one-room game competition. I wanted to participate but I had no team. Since I missed the oportunity but still developed a story and gameplay mechanics for a one-room adventure, I'd like to make the project. But I need two 3d characters and a pre-rendered scene (complete with the HG file).

For the characters you could lend me a character of the 2.5D games that you guys are working on yourselves. Look at it as an opportunity to promote your own games. My one-room game using your character can act like a teaser to your own game. I will also not only credit you at the end of the game, but even provide a teaser image of your game and link to your site.
I only need the 3d modell, and it must be a young man. I will animate it myself (or if you want you can provide the animations for your character as they will be in your game). So if anyone making a 2.5D adventure has a young man and wants to offer the modell for my one-room game, please contact me.

For the scene, if you as the leader of a 2.5D game development team, can talk to your modeller to make the scene, I will provide you with a sketch to get the ideea. It's a quite simple scene.

To those interested, I will send the basic script, as well as the sketch of the scene and some info on the character.

10x in advance

Technical forum / a little problem
« on: April 30, 2006, 03:49:24 PM »
Hiya!!

Hope someone can help with a little problem.
I have a background image with the height larger than the scene's height. The bkg image scrolls down(dunno why, but since i wanted it to scroll it's great :P.
Also i made an invisible entity that talks (i wanted the effect of text appearing over the scrolling background).
My problem is this: the background scrolls a bit down, but when the first line of text appears (when the entity begins to talk) it stops scrolling. How can i make it continue its scrolling? I tried making the entity StickToRegion("floor"), but it doesn't work. Is there anyway to let the background continue scroll while the entity talks, and let the entity scroll with the bkg so that the writting will always be in the center of the screen?

10x in advance!

Technical forum / displaying text function and effects
« on: December 28, 2005, 10:15:37 PM »
Hello!

Happy holidays to everyone!

I have a question about scripting in WM. It's very very easy, but since i'm not very good at it i have to ask :D
How can i display text on-screen? I don't mean mesages windows. Simple text. Is tehre a function for this? I'm really not very good at programming, so please help. I know a method: making an entity with an invisible sprite, and having it talk for the scenes in wich i want text displayed on-screen. But is there a function that can display it directly?

Also i want to know if it is possible to make a transition effect, for screen changes. I want when the screen changes, first the current screen will have a sepia effect, and then the next screen (wich also has the sepia effect) appears and after 1 second the sepia effect disappears and the screen is coloured. Is there a function for sepia effect over screens? Or can anyone tell me how to write such a function?

Thanx in advance,
Ciao!

Help wanted and offered / colorist and pencil artist needed
« on: October 24, 2005, 07:08:56 PM »
Hiya!

I need these positions in my team. If you think you are qualified, please send a pm.

Colorist
Giving color to an image is like giving it life. This position is responsible for digitally coloring the finished pencils.
The message an image delivers, and its final aspect will be different according to how it is coloured. The theme is The Middle Ages... think castles, think knights.
Also shading is a very important part of the process and can change the way the image looks.

Pencil Artist
Background pencils are what the player will first see. Each screens look and feel is determined by the pencil artist.
You will be responsible for creating clean background artwork based on existing concept sketches and design notes.

Ciao!

Technical forum / 3d modell questions
« on: September 14, 2005, 04:37:30 PM »
Hiya!

I have a 3d character modelled in 3ds max. As u know i need it as a milkshape modell. I have some questions regarding the export process:
I understood that every modell has its own skeleton..
I have a mesh modelled in 3d studio max, but without a skeleton... plus it's made of several parts (head, body, limbs etc etc). Does it need to be a 1 part modell? And what about the skeleton 4 the animation? it needs to be made in milkshape right?

hope someone can help!

10x in advance,
Ciao!

Help wanted and offered / background designer needed
« on: July 18, 2005, 08:42:40 PM »
Background designer needed: your job will be to create concepts for the backgrounds, and the places in the game. You should be able to recreate in drawings the places described in the scenario.
I only need sketches for the modellers since the game will use pre'rendered backgrounds.
Also, there'll be only a few places in the game and so i don't think this would be a very hard job.

Those of you that want to help ,reply here.

Thanks!
