Title: true 3D characters?
Post by: neph on March 25, 2003, 08:51:49 AM
hi there  :)

is there a plan to make the engine support true 3D characters in the near future? I'm looking for an engine that allows me to make a Resident Evil-type game (with less action) and since I tried many engines and I liked this one most I'll start the project using WME. Although sprites are fun to work with, I'd be happy to use 3D characters with pre-rendered backgrounds.

I saw the screenshot from Afterglow and it gave me high hopes.

regards, neph

Hi, please see this post in another thread:

So, basically: there _is_ an experimental support for 3D characters built in WME, but I didn't touch it for more than a year. It is possible the 3D chars will come back one day, but I'm afraid it won't be in the near future...

I tried the demo and I like it. :) is there any chance I could use this technology? or maybe you know some other solution?
it would be pretty much ipmortant since I build the backgrounds and the objects in 3D anyway.

thanks in advance.

No, sorry, not at the moment. It would need quite a lot of work to make it up-to-date again...
