Title: A Myst-like project
Post by: NEO on March 22, 2005, 03:20:09 PM
Hi Everybody.
I'm about to begin an important project in my carrear. It's a historic game with a myst-like user interface. I'm fixing the inportant points in this project, but I'm searching a developpement kit. I want to save time and money, and I wonder if WME will be the best solution.
Thanks for your responding.

Which part of Myst do you mean? You can do 1st-Person games with static backgrounds with WME (like for example in Sofias Debt or Dead City), but no realtime 3d.

No, it's not possible with wme. And afaik there is no free public available engine that can do that.

There something made with Irrlicht that you can use to prototype your game:

browse the forum about a "adventure engine".

Hi,

I'm glad to announce that the panorama plugin now supports videos and even looping videos!!!

You can download it from (5MB):
http://www.efxweb.com/am/am_panorama_plugin_beta6_build3.zip

The package also contains a whole new demo game, with videos, puzzles, and a much larger vertical viewing angle (you can look up to the sky, and down at your feet)! Make sure to try it out!!!

It works beautifully on my computer, but I have not had time to try it on other computers, so I guess some of you will experience a lot of jerkiness.

http://pipmak.sourceforge.net/

This is an opensource adventure engine designed for 360 panoramic adventure but it's currently not finished and I'm guessing (note: I DON'T really know) that it's missing many features of other engines.
