I am personally some time testing the wonderful WME engine and analyzing the existing 2.5D games created with it.
And I concluded that one of the biggest problems are the long waiting times to a change of scenery and above all
saving and loading game.
In all other WME is perfect.

Thanks and cheer with WME 2.

Thanks for your interest. The project is alive, although a little stalled at the moment.

I'm kind of burned out because of my daytime job and I'm failing to kick myself into more programming in my spare time. But I'm sure it's only a temporary setback :)
Realistically, though, there are tons and tons of work to be done. For that reason I'm considering changing the way the development is organized and making the development more open, in the hope of luring some contributors to the project. I'm not thinking necessarily just programming, but perhaps some artistic stuff (demo assets, 2D art for the app, shaders...).

Hello Mnemonic, if you need help I think we can help. I am an expert in digital art and I can work in the 2D art for the app. I can also create some 3D content for a demo.

If your scenes take too long to load, you should reorganize the way you are loading stuff. For example, you could load much stuff when the game starts, or you put together different scenes as an "area"  and load actors and animations and stuff when you enter an area. ( e.g. a house, a city or whatever ).

Thanks Mnemonic for your answear :) It's very good that project is still alive :) If you will need any help with CG (I'm graphic designer) maybe I could help. Maybe because I got my daytime job, I'm developing my own adventure game and I'm work for another project. So time is very rare ware :) But if you need help, I will help.

Best Regards from Poland :)

Spellbreaker, Thanks for your reply, regarding the slow loading of scenes I mean commercial games (WME) as A Stroke of Fate, Art of Murder FBI and some more. It's a shame you can not change of scene or camera  immediately as in most current games.
Ideally also able to remove the black transition between scenes to get more tension and speed in some games of suspense and mystery.

An example of the slow loading between scenes on the following link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=0OGy1Y8-Qvo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=0OGy1Y8-Qvo)

It is only a contribution to improve future versions.

Yet I still say that wme is the best of existing engines for amateur and professional adventure games.
Thanks ::)

This is off-topic but even developers of commercial games have the right  ;) to not know or not care how to optimize their games. Going to a scene and expect it to load lots of graphics instantly won't happen with the best engine available. It's a hardware and not a software limit. It's up to the developer to find ways to optimize their scenes. Spellbreaker mentioned some ways.

Thanks guys for offering help. In the following weeks I'll try to prepare some kind of roadmap and "things that need to be done", so that if anyone willing and able to contribute, they will have a chance :)
