music talent, two handed proficiency?

Hello anyone here plays piano fluently?

Do you know how to train your left hand to be independent from your right hand? I cant help but keep playing both hands together like playing basket and stuff...

I'm guessing that would be hundreds and even thousands of hours of practice for most people. How long have you been playing?
