3D Problem... with Blender hidden geometry
« on: March 04, 2010, 11:52:32 AM »

Hi all,
I started to use WME for a little (very little actually) 2.5D test game, using, in first instance, the Trinity character. I designed a test scene (only a walking plane) and placed the character... the outcome was this one:

The hidden geometry files was defined using Blender 2.49b (plus the 3ds exporter export-3ds-0.82.py), and the WME is 1.9.001.
The video resolution is 1024x768 and character scale factor is 5.
As you can see the perspective is incorrect: the character is viewed down-up, but the scene would be up-down (the camera is above the floor plane and directed down).
Among the other things the character direction is not the right one as well: the scene starts with the parameter

Code: [Select]
actor.Direction = DI_DOWN;
but the outcome is this one:

I designed others 2.5D scenes also, with blocking meshes and way points defined, but the problem is the same: incorrect perspectives.
I searched the forum for a solution, without success... anyway I apologize if I missed something!

Someone can explain where are the errors?

Thanks in advance and compliments for the excellent job in developing the WME.

I have seen this problem with Blender-exported geometry before. It appears the camera is turned inside-out. I don't know if anyone was able to find some workaround though, and Blender is not my area of expertise, unfortunately :(

Problem solved! It was a matter of sign swapping, in the Clipping planes parameters, so now everything is OK.
Actually I used a slightly modified version of the Blender-vs-WME exporter (export-3ds-0.82.py), so now it's
working in Blender 2.49b (the last stable version) without warning errors.
