Problem with .x animation speed
« on: December 01, 2008, 12:56:36 AM »

Hello,

I've started a  new game in 2.5D. I've borrowed the "Victor" 3d actor from the 3d Techstdemo by DREAMWEB. Recently I,ve made my own actor in .x format using 3ds MAX and Panda Exporter. I see the .x model very good in some applications like Deep Exploration or DirectX Viewer from DirectX SDK, but whe I use the .x model in Wintermute, the animation, that has 45 second of duration (it's a movement test), is displayed by Wintermute in one second. I've revised the export parameters, but they are OK, and the animation works good in other programs, but not in Wintermute.

Does anybody has any idea?

Thanks in advance

The X file can contain a parameter called "AnimTicksPerSecond". If it's not present, some default is used.

Well, it wasn´t a bones problem, it was a shadow problem.

If we use FLAT shadow, there´s no problem.

But with the STENCIL shadow we got a weird shadow (in fact is the shadow of the biped, not the shadow of the model, and it´s flickering and with holes, and when de character leaves the foot up the ground , the shadows acts like a gum)

We see that in the trinity.act3d file, there is an option

 SHADOW_MODEL = "actors\trinity\trinity_low.x"

I´ve searched in all the folders but I didn´t find any file called trinity_low.x

But, from what I see, I suposse that probably to achieve good stencil shadows we need to create a model and asing it to the .act3d file.

I was trying this, but I did´t find anything that works. Could somebody, please, provide some advice?

Thanks.

SHADOW_MODEL is optional. If you don't define any, the character model is used for projecting shadows. This option allows you to create a simplified model of your character only for shadow projection purposes, to improve performance.
