Technical forum / Re: WME 1.9.1 (Kinjal Edition, v1.8)
« on: June 15, 2023, 03:41:50 PM »
Collecting obscure wme related things used to be a hobby of mine for reasons unknown.  ::slug ::slug ::slug
So here it is in 7zip archive https://www.dropbox.com/s/5chxwjahoqc966s/wme-ke_v2.0_bin_src_26june2012.7z?dl=0
Latest version is 2.0 and has changed name from kinjal (1.9.1) to community edition.

The engine has been opensource for years.
You can find the sources for WME & WME Lite here. Searching around the web you can also find a few, not actively developed, forks of wme lite from other developers. SCUMMVM has also incorporated WME engine and various games run well enough.

I can't see any problems with the files. Too bad it's not the usual issue (leftover pixels) Try to save them from another program.

I can't create a project atm to test it. if you can upload a compiled scene with the character (include also the exe) I could test it on a couple of computers.

Can you upload the png file of the character? I've seen this happening in the past with scaling when some pixels are left in the transparent areas.

Looks cool.

btw. WME might not be developed by Mnemonic anymore but it's opensource so all it takes to resume is people to take over.

Feature requests, suggestions / Re: End of development?

AFAIK development has stopped yes. We do not expect any new official release. But both wme & wme lite are opensource. There are still some additions from third party developers at  wme lite bitbucket but mainly bug fixes for their games or mobile fixes.

A better GPU with stable drivers will help you work with hardware acceleration enabled but it's not a priority imo. You can still start developing your game with your current computer. If you decide to get a new one please consult someone who can check your computer as it's old and very new GPUs won't work with it.

It will only change the quality in the rendered game you see in your computer. Not in the released game. So no worries.

Can you please run a few wme games or demos and let us know if those work?

Hello. The forums are still alive but not very crowded so replies can be slow. People are encouraged to drink a beer ::beer (or milk if you prefer it) and have patience.  :)

WME can't crash windows like that. It's probably an outdated buggy driver. Please make sure you update windows and all drivers, especially the gpu drivers and try again. Let us know if this works.

Technical forum / Re: 360 camera?
« on: August 14, 2014, 07:30:31 AM »
Lost souls is using a WME feature in unconventional ways to achieve that. Scenes in the game are 3D objects with the texture and camera inside the object. But, since you can't animate the camera, the result lacks. For a node based game (360 camera) I'd consider other choices as well. Like the opensource Dagon which is designed specifically for node based games. What it lacks is tools & development is frozen atm so game development will be more difficult compared to WME. Another choice is a full 3D engine like unity which can be used for prerendered games but it will require more work since it's a general purpose engine.

I think there is a misunderstanding. This thread is about already released on steam WME games. You can't tag greenlight games.
