You can check my little demo which is here:

There's a static in my hud like the one you're showing in the middle bottom of the screen on my hud.

You would have to make a window with a static like that and place it where you want it and then code the text accordingly.

It's not really that hard but you have to not only make the window with the static but make a method to have the text appear in the window--but you can follow that in my demo.

I'd use a "window" to house the text, that way you can even attach scripts to it and make them look like anything you want (eg png transparency), even use animated sprites for talking heads or whatever.

As thanks, make the name of the guy who runs the porn shop Jynks... (all cop games end up questioning a guy who runs a porn shop), or at least the "double take" drunkard outside teh quickie-mart.

If you have a problem, just pm me.  :  )  BTW, I am not using WME for an RPG game now--that was just a little trial -- am using it now for what it does consummately---point and click adventures!!!! But I will still use that little dialogue box cause I love it so.   ;)

In law school, I had a friend on the police force who invited me to their classes---and it was the most fascinating experience I've ever had --and I still have the certificate for passing those classes-- so I would say there is a lot there re the police to make a good game out of.  :  )  And the stuff I saw didn't involve the ordinary or the mundane.  Police Quests can be the most fascinating.  :  )
