After a long time of asking stoopid questions and making vague promises ... we are finally proud to announce our 2.5D point&click Adventure Schach-Welten / Chess-worlds.
You may have a deeper look into the project at our new webside: www.schach-welten.de for further information

Stucki! Awesome!! :o
I love the site! I tend to always have some critical remarks, but... no, can't wait to see more. :)
Impressing work! ::rock
-
Good start! I'm waiting for more :)
-
It looks fantastic. Who said games weren't art?
-
Looks really great! The setting remind me a bit of Kings Quest (Part 6?) Nice idea with the changing light situations!
Can you already reveal a bit more about the story?
-
wow. This one I really DO look forward to.
-
Hi again.
Many thanks for your comments so far !! I am very very glad you all like the result of our work so far ...
to keep you interested ... here is a link to a techdemo. Its the same room as on the webside, but this time in the engine ....
have a look : http://www.schach-welten.de/download/techdemo_1.zip.
its about 12 MB only one scene, no character, no menues ...
the resolution is 1280 * 960 pixels...
by now the game consists of 32 scenes like this one , some with day and night setting ...
greets stucki
P.S. we really need some assistance on the game. Especially in creating and animating 3D characters..... someone interested ???
Lets do a really cool adventure with this amazing engine and show all the huge companies what few creative people can do !!
-
I can't run the demo. It shows to me that the game requires 3d acceleration and if I run settings.exe, it doesn't show any gfx adapter.
Any hints?
-
Your video adapter probably doesn't support the required resolution in full-screen. Stucki, I'd recommend allowing the players to choose the windowed mode.
-
hmm, that would be it... And since I have quite new laptop, I don't find this resolution so lucky decision...
-
Windowed mode can be re-enabled by making wme.ini with the following:
[Debug]
AllowWindowed=1
-
That scene looks impressive. How much memory does it require with all those sprites (& particles)?
-
okay changed the file. now windowed mode is possible ...
and the best: there is another one .... www.schach-welten.de/download/techdemo_2.zip

1st one looks cool!!
-
is it just me, or is the uploaded file invalid? I keep getting unexpected end of archive even if I just now redownloaded?
-
try it again now .... was still uploading while i wrote the last post .... should work now .... 18 MB
-
the second one really looks amazing. I wish you a lot of luck with your project!
-
Man, you're crazy, you know that? ;D
-
Both scenes looks fantastic. ;D
-
Damn! The lighting effects on these demos are insane! I had no idea some of that stuff was even possible with WME.
-
Really impressive ...
-
thanks .....
and now ...
the last one for some time .... www.schach-welten.de/download/techdemo_3.zip 25 MB getting larger everytime ...
P.S. no one interested in doing 3D Characters for the project ....
-
Holy jebus! :o That last one is most impressive, definitely my favorite. Would you mind talking a bit about your process? Is everything alpha layered frames, or is there some sort of bloom or glow effect scripting going on?
-
Those tech demos are fantastic. IMO this kind of unique lighting is better than even the best realtime game. It has a unique vibe and look and that infinitely more appealing. Thanks for sharing.
-
Amazing work Stucki, very creative use of alpha layers!!
Cant wait to see a 3D character in there!
-
Hello again. alive and kicking
while working on another chess-world i decided to show you one new screen ....
here it is but still work in progress..
critiks and coments are welcome and wanted !!
btw. we are still needing someone for animating our characters..... nobody interested ??

Impressive as always Stucki!
How about those still missing tech demos? Do you still plan to upload them (or the updated ones as you have told me)?
-
I can not open the file either :(
-
Damn! The lighting effects on these demos are insane! I had no idea some of that stuff was even possible with WME.
Hmm, I'm not quite sure wether Mnenomic knew this is possible ;-)))
-
Not really, but I like to get surprised in such way :)
-
yes the techdemos .... er...
okay, they are still up and here are the links:
http://www.schach-welten.de/techdemo_1.zip
http://www.schach-welten.de/techdemo_2.zip
http://www.schach-welten.de/techdemo_3.zip
but these are still the old onces [ i do not find the time to build the new ones in the moment, sorry... ] so the actual grafics are better and there is no 3D-char - just techdemos ...
-
and here the same picture a with little colour correction and some more details
(http://www.schach-welten.de/DOWNLOAD/test_1.jpg)
have a good night !
-
Definitely better. I see that those last renderings are 1280x800. What will be the games' resolution? ::slug
And I don't remember you saying anything about an estimated release day or about possible publishers. Any info you could share? I'm not asking about names (NDAs suck), just some info if everything goes well.
-
everything works well ( except the lack of somebody doing the char animations )
and there is a new post on adventure-treff.de ( for those who speak german ).
maybe some have the time to read and post about the game ...
here is the link:

the game will be released (hopefully) autumn/end 2008
-
Hi @ all,
i´ve just visited the "Schachwelten"-homepage.
The screenies and the tech-demo really look incredible.
I think this game will be really good at its release.
I made a preview that you can see at our page :
http://www.gamepad.de/loesungen/files/Schachwelten.pdf
I hope that "Stucki" will have the time to work on it so that it can be released soon.
Greetz,
Locke
