Title: IRC... again!
Post by: Jerrot on August 01, 2003, 02:38:28 PM
Hiya,

i just registered an IRC channel called #wme on StarChat-Net.

there are several servers in different countries, if you don't have them in your favorite IRC program, just use one of the following servers:

irc.starchat.net
reality.no.eu.starchat.net
stargate.starchat.net

waelisch.de

if you are familiar with IRC you might know you can register your nickname as well. use the command "/MSG NICKSERV REGISTER [email] [password]" for this feature. (without the brackets, replace "[email]" by your e-mail, etc.)

see ya - maybe! :)

That's great. Is this going to be permanent?

I really hope that we can convince Jan to use it from time to time. It could be really usefull for all of us. (Afterall, all it takes it's just to install a multi-IM program.) :)

It should be permanent now. If you register your name, I can make you OPs permanently too. (At least everyone I know from the forum).

We are having some problems with the channel at Dal.Net

Some people can't connect for various reasons and the services lag A LOT (and when I say A LOT I don't mean just a few seconds).

We are thinking of moving the channel to a different net. (Unless things with Dal.net improved).
So if anyone has any suggestion, please drop them here.

Me and McCoy we both tried to connect to QuakeNet and it seems to work for us (unlike DalNet).

I just checked the quakenet and it doesn't have a NickServ so you can't register a nickname.

Ok, the services at DALnet are really TOO laggy and it sucks that Mnemonic and McCoy have these strange problems. Give me some hours and I'll try to find a good solution today in the evening. (GMT +01:00 ;-) !)

Now I am in wme channel and works fine, no problems.:) Try to use Trilian (messenger for ICQ, IRC, Yahoo and AIM)

Hi jnsfbi, hi all,

thanks for the hint, but unfortunately it's no matter of the client (and some uf us use/used Trillian, too).

I registered another channel #wme at the "StarChat"-Net, at least McCoy could connect and register now. The services work fast and fine yet. If StarChat is not in your list, you can try this one for Europe: reality.no.eu.starchat.net

Please try this one (and not DALnet), I'll edit my first post.

Hey, I went there yesterday and there was only KA-su-MA-kun in there... He told me that he was the only one there usually... And I discovered too that I lost my nick registration, and with it, my auto-op registration for the channel!  :'(

Well, lately it seems that it's resurrecting... I went in just three or for days ago and there was at least 4-5 persons, and a week ago or so I think we reached a new full house record!! But now usually Mnemonic, KA-su-MA-kun and Jerrot are in there, and another one of who I can't remember the nick name... (sorry  :-\).

I didn't stop... from time to time I just enjoy some time (and - it's weekend!) away from the computer, hardly to believe, I know... ;) ! I just haven't my computer on all the time anymore...

And beside me, it's Mnemonic who is online most, and of course KA-su-MA-kun.

Hmm, i get an error msg:  Unable to connect (Connection refused)

Firewall is configured right... anyone an idea?

EDIT: i just did a google search and found a working server: irc.starchat.net ;)

EDIT2: hmm, its scary... the irc channel shares some similarities with a horror movie ;D  everyone who said "ill be here tomorrow again" has vanished... :o ;) hope there is no method in it, as i promised this, too.... ;D

This is what BarGirl told me after I asked her if talking to a computer is a sign of mental illness:

"You're looking at the computer to the game, just been a stop sign"

I ask all of you to go a bit inside and think about these wise words.

Or join the channel and entertain me  ::rock

Well I've returned fulltime to #WME, even though I'm not much of one for using the forums here. I had an incident involving a hacker back in October, been spending most of my time since disposing of him. Now he's waiting for trial in the US.

Jerrot can I have my AOP back please?

What do you think about a chat session every now and then using a specified date? I think it would be very interesting to have more people you can talk to.  :)

hmm ... noone there? Or network split?

Hehe... most of the channel regulars are from Europe and usually most of us are sleeping at this time. So the channel can be empty such times.

EDIT: Oh... and I'm obviously not sleeping & writing at the forum. Sleeping is a waste of time anyway.

By the way, if you're on when on one is in there you could try my channel which is on the same network -- #GameDevelopers

Just while Europe is asleep ;-)

Title: StarChat down! Backup channel started.
Post by: Jerrot on June 09, 2009, 01:05:55 PM
Hi,

it seems, that StarChat forgot to renew their domain ownership, so it's on hold and not reachable anymore.

We created a "backup channel" on irc.chatjunkies.org, channel name is "#wme" as before.

See you there,
Jerrot.
