Dynamic Shadows

Hi!
I was wondering how to get dynamic shadows working. As far as I know, the shadow_light is set to the relative position of the actor in the scene. When my actor walks around a light source the shadow should change its direction though, otherwise it looks very odd indeed
.
It would be nice to define a light source in the 3ds file like for the walk and block objects (i.e. "shdlight_*"). Then the WME would have the position of this light and could do some calculations to simulate a dynamic shadow (direction and perhaps even the length of the shadow). That way you could even perhaps have more than one shadow-light in the scene.
It would be lovely to have such a feature
Or is there another way of simulating real shadows at the moment (perhaps with regions?) . How could that be done?
Thanks,
Oli

I don't think it can be done at the time being. As it is now, one would have to periodically change the light position as the actor moves, not really feasible IMO.

Okay, thanks for your reply. I´ve tried moving the light, but without success.
Do you think that "realistic" shadows and advanced light effects are possible in (near) future WME versions?
I´m asking, because I´d like to inform publishers what is possible and what could be done during development time.
Greets,

I'm not going to promise you this. The development efforts are concentrated elsewhere right now (tools..).
When "informing publishers", you should always take WME as-is.

Okay, I understand that you can´t make any promises. Since development time will take at least 9 months, I still can hope that this feature will be on your the top of your to-do list

Look at it from another point of view: we want
true
fixed light for the shadow. Currently that light isn't fixed as it walks everywhere with the actor (it is not common in the real life). I think the shadow light should be sticked to the scene, not to the actor's head. ;-)

. I fixed light source would be great.
