Maybe as a dirty trick while this function is implemented, it would be possible to script a loop daemon which moves a blocked region the size of the 3D model by the same X and Y coords than the 3D entity which moves?

Mhh... one thing that comes to my mind is to put the string inside a static control, then use the .SizeToFit() to automatically change its size to the string length. Then you just read the .width attribute of the static control, and voilá! :). And this way it will work with TTF and bitmap fonts.

Yes, you just need to check out the documentation which comes with the engine. Just download the engine, and check it out. There are tutorials, as well as information about every feature of the engine.

Sorry to bump up this old thread, but I wanted to ask (I already made it in the WME blog, but I thought it would be better if I post in the forums):

Jan, now that 5MA is going for voice acting, are you thinking about adding silence detection and lip sync to the engine? Specially silence detection. Any improvement about the approach you mention in this post? Still no way of making silence detection realtime without significant performance lose?

By the way, lip sync is not that necessary in my opinion, as it would be a lot of work both for the user and for you, so maybe that would fit for a long-term task, or for the next-gen tools maybe. But silence detection is basic for voices in a game imho.

Wow! Another update!! Too bad my exams are getting close, I don't have time to try the new features :(

Anyway Jan, I think that the development blog is a GREAT idea, now it's addaed to my quick favourites, and i'll visit it every day (that means you must update it!!).

I know Typing of the dead. The bad thing about it is that it was sold in Spain, but with absolutely no localization! That means that it was still intended for american keyboards, so it was impossible to finish, as some characters used were not in the same place in the spanish keyboard, and moreover, it didn't made use of the ñ, á, et-cetera. So it's only useful if you want to improve your typing skills with an american keyboard.

Well, it seems that SQ3 Remake project is dead... the boss hasn't show up since I got "hired", not even a little comment in the forums, nor he has got on-line on the MSN... I'm starting to get really worried, I think that maybe something bad happened to him, but I have no way to cantact him.
